Gabby Agbonlahor takes the mick out of empty stands at Birmingham v Hull

Gabby Agbonlahor takes the mick out of the empty stands at Birmingham v Hull for Tuesday night’s FA Cup Third Round Replay.

Tony Mowbray picked up his first victory as Blues boss since taking over as manager at St Andrew’s following the sacking of Wayne Rooney.

Birmingham City book a fourth-round trip to Leicester City with thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Koji Miyoshi.

Hull went ahead on 12 minutes when James Furlong produced a drilled cross from the left to find Jason Lokilo who slid in a first-time finish straight into the bottom corner.

Jay Stansfield then got one back for the hosts on 66 minutes just three minutes after coming on before Koji Miyoshi crushed any hopes that Hull had at progressing through the the next stage, scoring on the 93rd minute.

After the game, ex-Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor became aware of a video that showed players coming out of the tunnel with the stands looking rather bare.

The attendance was confirmed at 7,133, but fans are sceptical with that number announced.

@ga11agbon joked: “Have they got a restriction on how many fans are allowed to turn up? wtf”

Following Birmingham’s 2-1 victory, Tony Mowbray said to BluesTV: “I am happy enough. I wanted to look at everybody so we made a lot of changes and tried some people in different positions – just trying to get a feel for the group. I thought we started like a team that hadn’t had a lot of football and we were a yard off, and they probably took advantage of that, but I felt we grew into the game.

“We still had a lot of chances first-half and hit the first man rather than picking somebody out for a finish. It was a bit of a mistake for their goal but it was never an issue for me, I thought we were going to score.

“The substitutions on the 60-minute mark brought lots more energy and directness to the team and over the course of it, I felt the shots on target, the energy we put into the game, we deserved to win the match. In my mind it was justice we scored really late and in the last two games we have kept right on you could say.”

Mowbray said of 17 year old Romelle Donovan’s display: “He’s good. I watch him in training every day, he’s a bundle of energy and I want energy at the top end of the field if we are going to ask questions of teams and he can do that.

“As I have said since I have come in, it is repetition of habits. He has to know where he has to be in certain areas and if we haven’t got time on the training ground I will instruct from the sidelines.

“He is learning on the job really and he is a fantastic young kid, with bundles of energy and we need to utilise it going forward.”

Hull boss Liam Rosenior said as per the club website: “Some of the performances from our young players, the way we’re trying to build this football club in the style and identity we want, honestly makes me so proud,” said Rosenior.

“But we keep shooting ourselves in the foot from positions where we are in complete control.

“I said to the players after the game that has to be the last team talk after a game where I say, ‘I’m so proud of the way we play, I’m so proud of your bravery to take the ball, the energy you put in, the commitment.’

“That has to be the last time we’re unlucky this season. You can’t be unlucky this amount of times.

“For a little bit of nous, temperament and professionalism in the right moments, we’re still a very good team – I have no doubt about that.

“We need to now go to Sunderland and actually get a reward for all the good work everyone is putting in.”

Rosenior confirmed that Aaron Connolly will miss Friday’s Championship trip to the Stadium of Light due to concussion protocols.

This is how fans reacted after Gabby Agbonlahor takes the mick out of empty stands at Birmingham v Hull…

@GarySmithJnr: Gabby still owning them 6 years after retiring 🤣

@itzwraggy: is there another lockdown?

@mattychoppa: Worth turning up just for the heat off the flames 😂 still they can’t be bothered

@pete_bully: Must of been all enjoying the world class buffet.

@TomDigennaro7: It gets to the point you almost feel bad

@butts_1: Must all have food poisoning from their famous buffet 👀

@VillainGeezer: The great blue wall 😂😂 having a laugh

@nickomoss: This is literally hilarious 😂😂😂

@katie_7_: Oh my life 🤣🤣🤣

@KeslerSZN: But but most of the people in Birmingham support blues!

@TheVillaPolls: Genuinely, are there more away fans than home??

@chrissyrobbo77: Need to scrap replays in the cup. Penalties after 90 minutes if all square. Most of those replays nobody wants

@__DSH97: Keep right on, unless it’s a 3rd round replay at home

@MrPJLinton: Another fancy dress party at St Andrews. They’ve gone as empty seats.

@EllisDennantAV: Truly dreadful football club

@jackwherton: Surely you just open one of the side stand and not bother opening rest of the ground?

@AryanNaik134: Birmingham. On the rise again 🤣 🤣. Joke and embarrassment to the city and midlands 😂 #AVFC

@Ian_A_Woodcock:
This has to be the most unappealing of FA Cup third round replays:
Teams in the same division
Both in poor form
Home side have made seven changes, away side have changed entire 11
Winner plays runaway Championship leaders Leicester next round
Definitely going to penalties this

@DominicR26: Hull at home in a 3rd round replay is in the top 3 shittest FA Cup ties that are physically possible

@CD1875_: Genuinely think they should make a negotiation before games as to whether they should have a replay or not, genuinely no point for games like these to happen

@JoshColebatch: That’s actually embarrassing.

@JohnGallett: Whilst villa tonight have sold out 6k away on a Friday night in london.. These lot barely 6k in the stadium for their home game 😂 #avfc #bcfc

@GW_094: Remember their fans said they was back at the start of the season 😂😂😂😂😂😂
