Fundraiser set up as Gloucester City “lose everything” after kit man’s house fire

A fundraiser has been set up this week as Gloucester City “lose everything” after their kit man’s devastating house fire.

Nearly £3,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe page after just a day of being set up, with the money for Chris Farr after he suffered a catastrophic fire which has left his home destroyed and his mother hospitalised.

The National League North club have since reported that she has since been discharged from hospital and is now recovering, our best wishes go to her and those involved.

GOFUNDME PAGE:

“Unfortunately our kit man Chris Farr suffered a catastrophic fire at his house last night, caused by his tumble dryer.

‘Chris’ 81 year old mum remains in hospital after the fire, and we all send her our best wishes.

“As a club, we have unfortunately lost everything from drinks bottles to warm up kit, as well as catapult GPS vests and all the away kit.

“The Gloucester City AFC Supporters Trust have made a donation to help Chris in these most trying of circumstances, and as many people on social media have expressed a wish to help, we’ve made it easy with this gofundme page.

“Any amount, however small, will be a huge help!”

Gloucester City AFC have issued a statement, stating that the blaze broke out at kit man Chris Farr’s home on Sunday evening with it thought a tumble dryer caused the fire.

A number of the club’s equipment, including drinks bottles, home and away kit and high tech performance-monitoring vests had also been stored in his home.

Patrick Chambers, the club’s chairman, said: “It only happened yesterday so it’s all hands to the pump to try and make sure we can replace everything.

“We’ve already seen a few fans that have reached out online asking how can we help.

“We’re not in the best place financially, so something like this really does add to our woes, but we’ll come through it, we’ll stick together and we’ll find a way of moving forward, I’m certain.”
