16) CARLISLE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Cumbrians to finish in 16th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Simpson led Carlisle to successive promotions in his first managerial stint and comfortably saved their at-threat EFL status in his second, but the club legend cannot bring fundamental change to Brunton Park alone – he can only serve as the catalyst.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 16th place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 20th.

15) SUTTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the U’s to finish in 15th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: David Ajiboye is a major loss for Sutton, who replied on his energetic unpredictability – Gray’s 4-4-2 asks a lot of his wingers. The south Londoners have a top-notch spirit, however, and mid-table would represent an excellent second ever campaign in the EFL.

14) CRAWLEY

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Red Devils to finish in 14th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Will Betsy’s favoured 4-2-3-1 suit Telford, who thrives with a hold up strike partner> Do Crawley’s crypto investors have the strategic football minds to maximise their financial advantage? Just how sturdy are the foundations? There are far more questions than answers right now.

13) GILLINGHAM

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Gills to finish in 13th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Despite committing to an overhaul led by Harris, who was unlucky not to keep them up last season, Gills haven’t rushed to get new players through the door. Former Millwall stalwart Shaun Williams should boss the midfield if he has runners around him, but depth is lacking.

12) WIMBLEDON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Wombles to finish in 12th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Dismal game management was Wimbledon’s undoing in 2021-22, so defensive leader Alex Pearce – down at this level for the first time, aged 33, is a canny coup. Jackson has attackers who could light up League Two, his first task, was to end a 28 game winless run, something they did with a 2-0 victory against Gillingham in the opener.

11) DONCASTER

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted Donny to finish in 11th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Many clubs want an overhaul after relegation, but that isn’t an option for Doncaster, who have much of their 2021-22 squad under contract. It’ll be a challenging first full season in management for McSheffrey, 39, though snaffling Luke Molyneux for free is an inspired bit of business.

10) LEYTON ORIENT

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the O’s to finish in 10th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: The club picked up massively under Wellens and intend to take that form into this campaign. two main aims are to keep their heads – only Barrow received more bookings – and keep their key players: Smyth, Reuel Satiriou and Theo Archibald can do damage in League Two.

9) WALSALL

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Saddlers to finish in 9th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Co-owner Ben Boycott could have a perfect match in Flynn, who took Newport to two playoff finals in four seasons. The West Midlands outfit might not have a top seven squad yet but they’re on the cusp of something special – reflected in their highest season ticket sales in two decades.
