Fights breaks out as West Ham fans leave on 36th minute with Arsenal 4-0 up and 5-2 at half time

Fights breaks out in stand as West Ham fans leave London Stadium on the 36th minute with Arsenal 4-0 up, with the scoreline 5-2 by half time.

The Gunners got their first goal of the game on 10 minutes, Gabriel heading home from a corner, then 7 minutes.

West Ham thought they levelled 7 minutes later, a tidy finish by Crysencio Summerville who lobbed David Raya after finding himself clean through, but the offside flag went up.

It was 2-0 on 27 minutes, tapping home after Saka played a delightful pass before the ball is rolled into Trossard’s path.

Arsenal were awarded a penalty on 34 minutes, Lucas Paqueta left out a trailing leg and brought Bukayo Saka down. Odegaard made it 3-0 from the spot.

A minute latert, a wonderful ball forward by Leandro Trossard met Kai Havertz who only has the keeper to beat, so tucked it beyond Lukasz Fabianski.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka started West Ham’s fightback on 37 minutes, reducing the deficit after Carlos Soler’s assist.

On 40 minutes, West Ham got their second, a free-kick to West Ham 20-25 yards out, scored by Emerson who beautifully found the top corner. Mikel Arteta furious.

Arsenal were again given a penalty in first half stoppage time, Lukasz Fabianski went up to fist away a corner but made contact with Gabriel who went down. Fabianski went the right way and might have even got a touch but Saka’s attempt made it 5-2 just before the break.

Gabriel, who had been a doubt before this game after going off against Sporting in midweek, was replaced at half-time here, the suggestion a concussion risk when caught in the head by Lukasz Fabianski.

Arsenal players started ‘dropping like flies’ in the second half, Riccardo Calafiori subbed with the thought he might have taken a knock, Leandro Trossard limped after a heavy challenge by Jean-Clair Todibo, but was able to continue, Bukayo Sako fell to the ground after a follow-through, in pain but carried on, Martin Odegaard also down in pain after a challenge by Max Kilman, got up and played on, Arteta taking issue with challenges from West Ham players.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, speaking to Sky Sports: “I am taking a lot of pleasure from creating and scoring but the greatest pleasure is to win. Let’s keep this form going. Definitely the last three games we have been back.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC MOTD: “We made it crazy, we played so well at the start of the game. We scored three early goals and then they score one immediately after kick-off and then another one – then it was game on.

“We have to manage the game – we did that really well. The last two games were tricky and to score goals is a big one.”

On the balance of the team: “We knew before the game we were going to make substitutions because of the state of players, but we have to manage that. Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko come in, Jorginho was excellent. I am very pleased.”

On the second half: “The message was to not relax and to go for more.”

Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber, speaking to Sky Sports: “It was fun to play in. We scored a lot of goals and it’s always fun to score a lot of goals.

“We showed some really great football, we just need to keep this momentum going because we have a really tough game to come against Man United [on Wednesday].

“We have a big squad with a lot of good players and I think we showed that last week and again this week with different players in the starting line-up.”

Here’s how Twitter users reacted after fights breaks out as West Ham fans leave on 36th minute with Arsenal 4-0 up and 5-2 at half time…

@WestHamJoshV: Can’t recall a drop off of form and interest as disappointing as Paqueta. His personal situation gets mentioned as a factor – no excuse when he earns more in a week than the people who watch him earn in a year. He’s a hindrance that barely looks interested. Inexcusable.

@Hammer_On_X: Poor 1st half lads, two great goals from us today, clean sheet 2nd half, looking for some bounce backability on Tuesday v Leicester. COYI’s

@AndrewKane221: The way we just capitulate in games (Chelsea, Tottenham, Forest, today) is really troubling. There’s no discipline or accountability ability in the team. We absolutely NEED 7 points from the next 3 games.

@thomas_raee: Hopefully I wake up tomorrow and he’s sacked

@HammerCj: Expecting to see a sacked statement in the morning.

@IamChadbacca: Refuse to watch us or give a shit until that useless wanker has been fired! Absolute shambles as normal! Got lucky on Monday and people fell for it!

@RobF_WHU: Everyone saying sack the manager is forgetting that the porn dwarf that employed him will just employ another defensive yes man, it’s a vicious circle till him and Brady are gone

@Dannykaikenny: I have no problem being beaten by a better team if we show some fight but that was fucking abysmal, I think most of the team think we beat Newcastle they’ve done their bit for the season! Couldn’t give a shit about scoring 2 goals, letting in 5 goals in one half is unforgivable⚒️

@rhawkes11: New manager asap. Newcastle was a one off

@B_Roachy: Just sack him now and start again, every London derby we get turned over and embarrassed

@bartong2011: Abysmal 😱💩

@WestHamUniJake: Get the corner flag out unacceptable

@Epickil43093435: Sack him please

@hornchurchammer: Now get rid of the manager
