A fight breaks out amongst Celtic fans during the Champions League playoff knockout game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
Celtic fans also displayed an anti-Zionist banner, despite having a suspended ban hanging over their head after previous supporter indiscretions with fears fans would be banned from attending this week’s fixture.
Fans also had on show an anti-Israel banner during the home leg at Celtic Park, which read ‘Show Israel the Red Card’.
But it puts the club at big risk of further punishment from Uefa, weeks after a flare was chucked onto the pitch by a Celtic fan in the Champions League tie against Aston Villa.
Instead Uefa issued Celtic with a fine, with a suspended ban also continuing to hang over the club’s head.
At the Allianz Arena, fans had been seen waving a flag that read ‘Show Zionism the Red Card’ while another had a large Palestine flag on a pole.
European football’s governing body prohibits clubs from making political statements at matches.
Uefa Article 45.01 reads: “The match organiser, together with the police commander for the match and the safety and security officer, must prevent any provocative action being taken by spectators inside or in the immediate vicinity of the stadium (unacceptable levels of verbal provocation from spectators towards players or opposing fans, racist behaviour, provocative banners or flags, etc.).”
No real surprise to hear the Green Brigade were attacking their fellow @CelticFC fans last night in Munich. The Celtic board not only tolerate this scum. They fully endorse them. They’re handed a full allocation for EVERY Celtic away match

Bayern netted late to knock Celtic out of the Champions League; Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda & Nicolas Kuhn went close for the Scottish side; with Bayern striker Harry Kane being forced off at half-time; Kuhn fired the Hoops ahead; but it was Bayern’s Alphonso Davies who bundled the ball in to advance through on aggregate.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers on Amazon Prime:
“It was not what the players deserved at the very end. They gave so much in the game. We didn’t give away too much, and denied them space as well.
“We had quality and great moves and had the better chances in the game I felt. A real heroic performance and just unfortunate in the end.
“Our European credibility has been restored this season, that’s my takeaway from this season. We’ve shown real quality at times.
“Hopefully, come next season we can improve the squad even more, that’s the next step for us. But this season has been so good for us. My objective is to make us a seasoned team at this level.
“I said to the players that I came back here to make progress in Europe and if I judge that tonight they have given me everything and now it’s about learning for that and finish off our season well and get back into the Champions League next season.”
Celtic captain Callum McGregor speaking to Amazon Prime:
“It’s one of the cruellest [experiences I’ve had in football]. The players gave absolutely everything and pushed a very good Bayern side all the way, right to the death.
“Sometimes football’s cruel and you don’t get what you deserve but I have to say I’m so, so proud of the players and the way they played and handled themselves.
“We come off that pitch with no regrets. It’s a real, real sore win but I think we can be proud of ourselves.
“It was set up for us to try and nick the next one as well, and even if we had to go to extra time we fancied ourselves as well.
“I think anybody watching that game of football tonight would see a really good Celtic team.”
