Favourites for next Bury manager

After Ryan Lowe left newly promoted crisis club Bury for relegated Plymouth Argyle recently, we’ve taken a look at who are favourites for the job at Gigg Lane.

Bury could potentially cease to exist for next season due to huge financial concerns. Shakers have avoided numerous winding up petitions from the High Court over unpaid bills and total dept up to £8m, the case has now been adjourned until the 19th of June with talks three parties are interested in buying the club.

The supporters turned up outside Steve Dale’s home expressing their anger, calls for him to walk away and wanted to know what was going on as the crisis situation continues.

Any manager coming into the club will certainly have his work cut out, with Ryan Lowe most likely snatching his former side’s players.

6) STUART MCCALL

Stuart McCall’s last job with was Scunthorpe United. He was appointed in August 2018, won four out of five games in January to take them out of relegation and up to 14th. The good form didn’t last though as they dropped back to 18th and was sacked in March 2019.

Before that, he was with Bradford, though was sacked when they were still sitting in 6th in League One when as they had fallen 13 points behind the automatic promotion places.

Between 2007 and 2018, McCall has also managed Bradford City (two spells), Motherwell and Rangers.

5) IAN HOLLOWAY

Ian Holloway currently works as a pundit on the EFL Highlights show on Quest after he lost his job at Loftus Road in May 2018.

He has previously managed Bristol Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City, Blackpool, Crystal Palace and Millwall.

Holloway has won promotion at three different club in his managerial career – The Second Division in 2003-04 with Queen’s Park Rangers and the Championship playoffs in 2009-10 with Blackpool and again in 2012-13 with Crystal Palace.

He was most recently keen on jobs for Plymouth and Walsall, however never got appointed.

4) DEREK ADAMS

Derek Adams was most recently Plymouth Argyle manager, having been sacked in April 2019.

He was appointed in 2015, guided Argyle to the League Two playoff final in his first season, but lost to AFC Wimbledon.

The following season, he guided them to 2nd and promotion to League One.

The 2017/18 season saw him incredible guide them from relegation to playoff contenders in the second half of the campaign, finishing 7th.

Plymouth then ended up getting relegated in the 2018/19 season, Adams received a huge amount of criticsm from fans, and he was axed, but it was all too late for the club to avoid the drop.
