Favourites for next Bury manager

We continue our look at the favourites for Bury manager…

3) DAVID FLITCROFT

David Flitcroft most recently managed Mansfield Town, he was appointed in March 2018, and lead them to three points outside the League Two playoffs in 8th.

By the end of December 2018, Mansfield were defeated just once under Flitcroft in the 2018/19 season. They were also the only side in the top four English divisions unbeaten away from home, until they were beaten by Carlisle.

His contract was terminated on 14 May 2019 after failing to achieve promotion to League One, having lost to Newport County in the play-off semi-final.

2) KEITH HILL

Keith Hill is another manager who recently lost his job, this time at Rochdale (second spell).

He guided them to promotion from League Two on the 26 of April 2014, the second time he did so, previous to that was 2009/10 season.

His departure came following their 2-0 defeat at league leaders Luton Town, ending his spell where he managed 570 games in his two spells in charge and winning 235 of them.

Dale sat 22nd in the League One table after winning just once in 12 games since Boxing Day and were five points adrift of safety after five straight defeats.

Hill has also managed Barnsley, he avoided relegation by one place in his first season in charge then got the boot in December 2012.

1) BERNARD MORLEY & ANTHONY JOHNSON (joint)

Barnard Morley and Anthony Johnson were managers of Salford City between 2015 and 2018 and guided them to many promotions up the non league pyramid. They left the club by mutual consent, due to irreconcilable differences regarding performance and contract length.

They are currently managing Chester, gained 7 wins from their first 15 matches, lost 8-1 to Blyth and overall, achieved a 16-14-12 record, which saw them clib to 9th on the table with 62 points. Chester were just 3 points off a playoff spot. In the FA Cup, Chester were also defeated 4-3 in the third qualifying round by Dunston UTS.
