It comes following their 1-0 home defeat by Queens Park Rangers, making the Bluebirds fifth in succession in the Championship and their sixth in all competitions.
The Bluebirds currently sit 15th in the Championship table, 13 points adrift of the play-off places and nine from the relegation zone.

CLUB STATEMENT:
We can confirm that First Team Manager Neil Harris and Assistant Manager David Livermore have left Cardiff City Football Club with immediate effect.
The Board of Directors would like to thank Neil and David for their efforts during their time with the Bluebirds and wish them every success for the future.
A new permanent manager and assistant will be announced in due course via club channels.
Speaking on Thursday, Tan Sri Vincent Tan has stated: “I’d like to thank Neil and David sincerely for their hard work at Cardiff City.
“Their efforts to propel us towards a fifth-place finish and Play-Off position last year are recognised and appreciated, although sadly we are in a result-orientated business and our on-field results of late and progress this season has been very poor. As such, we have had no choice but to relieve them of their duties in an effort to improve results and league position with a change of manager.
“I’d like to personally wish Neil and David the very best with their future undertakings and endeavours. They will always be welcome faces at Cardiff City Stadium and I wish them good luck and good health. God bless.”
Harris came in to replace Neil Warnock as the new Bluebirds boss back in November 2019 and guided the club to the Championship playoff semi-finals last season.
He has struggled however this season, picking up three wins from the opening 13 fixtures for the 2020/21 season.
When choosing whether to appoint Neil Harris in 2019, the other strong contender for the job had been Charlton Athletic’s Lee Bowyer.
Chairman Mehmet Dalman revealed that owner Vincent Tan had more to do with the approach for that appointment, as the club had been seeking a younger, more offensive style of manager.
He said: “We want a manager that can have 35 shots in every game,” Dalman told BBC Radio Wales.
“I think (the owner) Vincent Tan wants to take a more hands-on involvement with the next manager which I think is right, after all he’s the owner of the club.
I think he wants someone younger with a more offensive type of manager.
“The process is ongoing at the moment, we’re down to a very small number of names.
“I’ll be very surprised if we don’t announce something within the next 72 hours, certainly by the weekend.”
As mentioned, some fans were left thrilled as Cardiff City sack their manager, find out what they had to say below…
@swansnews: Goodbye Agent Neil. You were doing a sterling job at getting them out of the Championship but unfortunately not the way that they wanted. Step forward agent Pulis, your 1970s-ball is needed
@Nelmzey: Seemed like a good guy but needed to happen. All the best Harris, now we move
@HarriBurt: In all seriousness I know we’ve had a poor season but he did an amazing job last season and one thing everyone can give him credit for is using the academy a lot more than previous managers have, goodbye Neil, will never forget when you had don status
@mateojamesh: yesssss we moveeeeee
@NathanC021: Best news I’ve had all week. Please get someone decent in now and not a cheap option
@PEBradbury: Mark Hudson for me
@Alex_Kerr9: Bellamy or Howe please. Have some ambition ffs!
@kylesinett: FINALLY
@Lwki_: YESSSS CHEEEERIOOOOO
@MattGough10: OH MY GOD IT HAPPENED
@ccfc_williams: You absolute fucking beauty admin
@scfcthomas: Gutted, a true Swansea City legend.
@BRFClewis: Ben garner is an option
@huwrichards3: Six league defeats out of seven, but four of those against Norwich (2), Brentford and Swans, the strongest teams in the Champo. After getting into playoffs last season looks like panic, sadly endemic in Champo….
@t_bushell90: just after letting him sign 2 players, club is potty, mays well have done it at the start of the window
@Michael_Fogg: Good, if overdue, decision. Now appoint a dynamic manager who can develop a squad over the medium to long term. Consider Bellers, but also other young adventurous managers.
@kamil012345j5: Get Bellamy or jokanovic in
@jackcarter22: completely disrespectful.
@PR3GAN10: About time! Please don’t take cheap option this time
@davies250395: Came across as a really likeable person but something had to be done
@SophieEdmunds13: absolute scenes
@AllThatRumpus: Thanks, Neil. Saw you as an underdog and wanted you to do well, but it just wasn’t happening. Hope you get a decent pay-off so you can consider your next move.
@RileyWoodman2: Bye bye Neil Harris you will not be missed
@Ben_SCFC_: Gutted, was doing a great job.
@sascha25144423: Thank the heavens above
