In a weekend of interesting refereeing performances, Watford Women vs Lewes might be the most remarkable. Never seen highlights like this 😅https://t.co/QmR4E3vVw2

Fair to say this game had so much going on, highly controversial refereeing decisions with Watford Women ended the game with nine players for the last half an hour.
Watford also felt hard done by when Lewes keeper Emily Moore brought down Jessie Gale just outside the box but only got shown a yellow card.
There was also a half-time pitch inspection due to heavy rain. If you haven’t already, the highlights area must seen. Quite extraordinary.

Twitter users gave their reaction after seeing fans gasp in disbelief after red card decision from referee during Watford Women vs Lewes…
@RLTaylorWSLWC: The player was not going to take the corner well because of the weather, but the referee decides to book her (send her off) 🤔! How does it work like that??
@ScottEaglen: Because she kept removing the corner flag which can’t be removed. She could’ve easily adjusted her run up whilst the flag was in place.
@RLTaylorWSLWC: She basically cannot remove corner flags because of time-wasting.
@FFSChristie: She kept removing the corner flag, which she cannot do because under the Laws of the Game the corner flag is a fundamental part of the field of play. I can then only assume after much arguing she’s sworn at the ref
@FFSChristie: Must have sworn at the ref. You can mild disagreement over the corner flag before she says something else and refs demeanour changes completely
@FFSChristie: Probably advise your players not to swear at the ref
@davidquick100: Worst refereeing display i have ever seen at any level! Even random people picked out of the crowd at Sunday League parks have been miles better. The way The Girls still put everything in and showed so much passion is why I’ll be back every week. Top performance even if 9 v 13
@kelly_noble1: Appalling refereeing
@Jessaroo1881: Shocking from the officials today. 2 terrible reds for us and he bottled sending their keeper off. How can you come out of your area, take down a player denying her a blatant goal scoring opportunity and not get sent off?! Even worse the FA assessor was sitting there laughing!!
@thelittleowl11: Only thing I can assume is it was for something she said.
@spuddy1878: Well obviously we don’t know what was said so hard to comment. The flag must be in place. Why is she taking the kick with the Nell placed there ????
@waltivertz: What is this 😭😭😭😭
@Adey_TT: Assume she’s said something to the ref but the corner flag is in a massive pool of water.
@JonDBarker: how is this a straight red?
@Hxzzam: More than likely for something said, could’ve been for moving the corner flag, or for kicking water but 99% for something that was said
@ILPadrino1994: Wtf is this?!? Pitch is waterlogged, refuses to offer any lineiency to take the corner properly, then sends her off?! Officials in this country are getting worse!
@SocialEngland66: This referee actually walked away from this match with an actual paycheck. I’m genuinely adamant they just ask random people off the street if they want to be a ref for a laugh
@moxon_will: Common sense seems to have gone out the window from the ref and why did he decide to slow walk over when he wants the player to hurry up 😂 also love the pettiness of the tackle and then kicking the ball away after 😂😂
@TinnyQuinny: This ref had to be getting paid
@NorrisSZN__: What the fuck
@kianchels: why’s she kicking the water like the ref can do owt about it
@Jolomoco: Oh wow 🫣😭
@UCdangraham: GK taking out a breakaway player for yellow? He had no clue
@MarkIHarrison: Has to be seen to be believed. Three red card incidents, and all of them wrong. Incredible.
@EllieY8s: I’ve seen some refereeing performances in my time but this is up there… Fair enough if the player unable to take the corner said something they shouldn’t – but not sure based on the rest of it! FA need to provide more support to part-time officials.
@GranitJacka: Omg they should’ve walked off the pitch what is thisss
@Jolomoco: Honestly not far wrong here if anybody hasn’t seen the refereeing performance between Watford and Lewes Women this weekend. It’s best to just watch it rather than be told about the decisions. 3 big ones to cover your eyes for.
@gloryhornet15: @FA_PGMOL this match needs investigating
@kelly_noble1: Definitely shit show of a game
@DNSYE_podcast: Annie was outstanding today – spraying the ball around all over the place – until that twat of a ref decided more stupidity was called for!!
@johnnyhornet59: I hope Annie told him what she thought, some times it just has to be said, but the @FA_PGMOL are so corrupt and up themselves nothing will ever get done.
@144Joshc: Ref killed the game! Didn’t deserve to lose at all
