Ex-Premier League and EFL player, age 37, joins 9th tier club, the 24th move of his career

Ex-Premier League and EFL player, Kemy Agustien, age 37, joins 9th tier club Belper United, becoming the 24th move of his career.

Incredibly, he’s still going strong, playing for the love of the game, linking up with the Derbyshire outfit who play in the United Counties League Premier Division North.

He’s described to be an adaptable player, capable of playing anywhere in midfield, with his preferred position being one of two central midfielders.

Kemy tweeted “We keep going I guess. Looking forward to this season” and in reply to a tweet from the assistant manager, he added “We move broski. We got some targets to achieve ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ”ฅ”

Standing at 5โ€™10โ€, he has been described by former clubs to be a key player in the midfield.

With a wealth of experience, he started his career at Willem II for two years before moving to AZ Alkmaar.

Between 2004 and 2010, he also had loan spells at three different clubs, including Birmingham City.

From 2010 to 2013, he played for Swansea City, making his Premier League debut against Manchester City and appearing in 39 matches.

Following this, he had loan spells at Crystal Palace and played 13 games during a two-year period with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Subsequently, he has played for various clubs, featuring in 41 games for Mickleover from 2020 to 2022. Last season, he played for Hednesford Town after a brief stint with Kettering Town.

On the international stage, he has represented the Netherlands at the under 19โ€™s, 20โ€™s, and 21โ€™s levels, and since 2015, he has earned 15 international caps for Curacao.

His old boss, Martin Carruthers of Matlock at the time, believed that Augustien was a perfect fit for the Gladiators.

He said: “His track record speaks volumes, with extensive experience in both the Football League and the Premier League. He is a skilled player, highly experienced, and will bring great value to the team dynamics. He possesses excellent ball control and will be instrumental in dictating the flow of play.”

Kemy left Matlock in September 2023 and subsequently joined Southern League Premier Division Central club Alvechurch.
