Ex-EFL player and father of Rebekah Vardy’s child jailed for three years over cannabis factory

Ex-EFL player and father of Rebekah Vardy’s child, Luke Foster, has been jailed for three years over running a cannabis factory.

Foster, 38, got three years last month after admitting charges, class B drug cannabis, with two others, and is currently serving his person sentence at HMP Nottingham.

He met Becky in 2007 while at Oxford United, and was with her for six years, having a child with her in 2010, but then they split up in 2013, and then she met Leicester’s Jamie Vardy months later while she was working as a nightclub promoter, before marrying him in 2016.

But this week, a source said of Foster’s conviction, per The Sun: “This is devastating for Becky — she’s only just found out about this, and of course she’s furious. It’s outrageous.

“Her sole concern is to protect her son — making sure he’s surrounded by people who love him and that this has zero impact on his education and anything else that could affect a teenage boy.”

Foster, who described himself as a “family man”, but admits to making bad lifestyle choices in his “younger years”, had been in a relationship for six years with Rebekah Nicholson, who later married Jamie Vardy.

Luke Foster also faces a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing in July 2024.

Speaking in 2017, when his ex was a contestant on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Luke Foster claimed: “Becky liked the finer things in life.

“She wanted the biggest house on the street, expensive handbags.

“She drove my Merc, I had a Picasso.

“She wouldn’t even let me drive my own car.

“I’d pay for things I couldn’t really afford.

“I’d get another credit card… eventually it all came crumbling down.

“Becky was finding it a struggle. We weren’t doing that badly, in my mind – living in a five-bed house, driving around in a Mercedes.

“We couldn’t do everything that she wanted, but that’s life. When I moved from Preston to Lincoln my wages went down and Becky would say: ‘We can’t live on that.’ But it was still more than my mates earned as builders. I’d go ‘What planet are you on?’

“If someone had a better car than us, she’d want to go one better.

“She’s now got the husband she always wanted, one who can keep her in the lifestyle she’s dreamt of. She’s got the shopping, the house, the car. She’s living her perfect life.

“Becky upgraded. She said that to my face. She said he’d treat her a hell of a lot better.”

Foster also claimed that she had stopped him from going on a trip with his fellow Stevenage players.

“Becky stopped me from going out with my friends. I even missed out on going to Las Vegas with my Stevenage team-mates.

“We got promoted and the club were paying for us to go to celebrate and I was told I couldn’t go.

“She said ‘If you go, we are over.’ I wanted to celebrate one of the pinnacles of my career but I couldn’t.

But responding in a statement at the time, a spokeswoman for Rebekah Vardy insisted: “It’s upsetting Luke felt the need to sell yet another untrue story on the mother of his son.

In 2017, Foster was made to pay her £225 per month for child support for their son, with this battle going on for a year-long because of cash after she insisted that she was owed cash to look after the then 8 year old.

“He has already made these claims via a friend in another newspaper over 18 months ago and Mrs Vardy made it very clear then she had separated from Mr Foster months before meeting Jamie Vardy, although as a good mother she kept their family together in the same house for another couple of months so that the children had a ‘normal’ Christmas without being uprooted and disrupted.

“There are many reasons why their relationship broke down but prior to leaving for Australia this month Mrs Vardy was threatened by Mr Foster with the selling of stories, yet she advised us that she would choose not to comment directly about Mr Foster as he is the father of her son and she cares more about her son’s well being and privacy than she does in publicly putting Mr Foster’s name alongside a list of his wrongdoings in the past.

“Mr Foster has a new girlfriend and a new baby, he should put his efforts into focusing on them instead of still trying to hurt Mrs Vardy and in turn hurt his son who will no doubt hear about this story at school.”

Documents claimed that the Child Support Agency made Foster to pay the sum, despite previously pleading to be “cut some slack”.

At the time, a source said: “Luke didn’t pay maintenance for months and the CSA were chasing him. Becky just wants him to take some responsibility.”

Foster then said to the Mirror that he had been hoping to get his finances sorted while working in management at Oldham, explaining: “I want to pay for my child.”
