An ex-Conference club have announced that they resign from the Northern Premier League ahead of the upcoming 2020-21 season.
They become one of around 20 clubs to have withdraw from their league since July 2019, with a bulk of those being more recent due to the coronavirus pandemic.
There is a lot of uncertainty for many non league sides and still so many unanswered questions. The many hours volunteers spend, the communities teams bring together, it is so sad to see, help and answers are desperately needed.

Droylsden Football Club have as of today resigned from the Northern Premier League and will also take no part in Cup Competition this season
In a letter sent to the Northern Premier League Chairman Dave Pace described the decision as the most difficult he has ever had to make.
In a letter sent to the Northern Premier League Chairman Dave Pace described the decision as the most difficult he has ever had to make.
However the disruption caused by the Covid-19 crisis has left him with no alternative.
The closing of the social club and its function rooms since the start of the pandemic, the main income source with no indication of any restart on viable trading terms along with a loss of income from the club’s main sponsor has left the club with no visible alternative income stream during the crisis.
“The club may hopefully survive this crisis and continue into the future in less challenging circumstances than we find ourselves in during the present”
The club will be making no further statement at the present time.”

This is getting ridiculous now. How many clubs going bust is going to take. Hope to see you again soon?

This is extremely sad. I hope the club can come back at a lower level after a year out, rather than fold completely. Best wishes to all involved with the Bloods.

Sad sad day shows how bad football will be effected by COVID ??? Clubs/teams need more help to survive, im afraid to say this won’t be the only club to do this and it’s very worrying time ?Hopefully Droylsden can come back in the future and get the good times back ??⚽️

Sad news, such a shame when u got 1 of the richest clubs literally down the road, more needs to be done in helping non league clubs, or in 6 month they’ll be a lot more going down the same path.

Very sad to hear when it’s your own local team where you have grown up. Suppose a few including myself kind of expected this as likelihood with current events , won’t be the last one following suit either.

Very sad news as @Droylsden_FC was the first non-league ground I ever watch a game in back in 1983/84 as a 13/14 year old as my mates dad had the old kings head

Sad but feel its first of many and so many lower league clubs i see making big plans and promises how can they i feel they will be following sadly

I sadly see a lot of this coming. Football authorities need 2 wake up at the top and start to filter down some of the obscene amounts of TV money. We at our levels also need 2 cut cloths accordingly 4 the game 2 b viable and sustainable. A wage cap would be a good point 2 start.

Very sad news to read, I hope that a football club can rise from this, when you see all the £££££ sloshing around in the Premier league it makes me angry..

Where are the rich clubs from this! Am really surprised! Thos grassroots clubs raises some good players to them! Vardy, Austin, Clucas, Antonio, Williams, etc.
In the past playwrs like Bullard, Ian Right, Finnan, Sir Les to mention a few !— Bader Marafiبدر موسى معرفي (@BaderMMarafi) August 6, 2020
