Every Attendance of the Weekend – 21st November 2021

We will be taking a look at every attendance from the Premier League, the EFL and Non League, including the biggest of the weekend.

It was a busy few days of football with supporters throughout the country going through the turnstiles to watch their sides all in action.

The easing of Covid restrictions sees stadiums have no social distancing measures in place in the stands.

However, there remains uncertainty on whether ‘vaccine passports’ will be introduced from October 2021.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced there was a plan to mandate certification at venues where “large crowds gather”, including sporting venues with capacities of 20,000 or more.

Football Supporters’ Association chairman Malcolm Clarke warned introducing such measures could cause “chaos” at some clubs.

The Premier League revealed new matchday protocols for the 2021-22 season, stating fans “must be prepared to prove” they are fully vaccinated or have had a negative Covid test in the previous 48 hours.

The league is preparing in case it becomes mandatory for all supporters to have their Covid status checked.

Premier League protocols say supporters could face random spot-checks of their Covid status and this means proof of full vaccination or a recent negative lateral flow test.

Fans must follow a new ‘supporter code of conduct’ which includes wearing masks indoors, avoiding close contact and following one-way systems.

While it is not yet mandatory to check supporters’ Covid status, it was Chelsea who are the first top-flight club to announce fans would need proof of being fully vaccinated or a recent negative test result in order to attend games at Stamford Bridge.

Stewards will check the Covid status of fans at the “point of entry” and the criteria will apply for men’s and women’s games involving the club.

Tottenham and Brighton trialled the same system during pre-season friendlies ahead of any potential rule changes.

The same, if not similar protocols apply to those in the EFL and non league in order to try and minimalise the the spread of Covid, but also let fans through the turnstiles and support their club on a matchday as normal as possibly.
