Everton decided to delete a viral video of Jordan Pickford who had been seen making a certain gesture towards Newcastle supporters.
The Toffees stunned with a 3-0 victory at Goodison Park on Thursday, and Jordan Pickford made sure he was savouring every minute of it.
Three goals within 17 minutes led to the shot stopper revelling in Newcastle’s disappointment, with the three points enough to see Everton climb out the relegation zone for the first time since being deducted 10 points for breaching FFP laws.
Despite the Magpies being 10 places better off in the table, Pickford put that aside and was more focused on the result that night.
The 29 year old taunted those in away end on a number of occasions throughout the game, from knee-sliding to slapping one of his hands on the opposite bicep, saying “f*** you” to the Newcastle fans.
He did another celebration at full time, with Everton posting footage of it, not realising and then took it down having seemingly become aware…
He loves it 😂#pickford pic.twitter.com/lQp1vPaFXe

Twitter users reacted likes that Pickford took to taunt the abusers, having previously been targeted not just by Newcastle fans but fans of other clubs too.
Andrew Musgrove, who is the North East and Yorkshire social media editor for Reach, explained via the Royal Blue podcast: “Anyone who has played for Sunderland will always get stick from the (Newcastle) fans.
“I think that he has reacted to it at certain times in recent seasons just inspires the crowd to go more. It’s like when you’re a kid and playing knocky, knocky nine doors, the one house that opens the door and chases after you, you know you’re going back there the day after and the day after.
“That’s kind of the same thing. If Pickford was like ‘meh’, ‘I’m not that bothered’, I don’t think he’d get half the stick but we all remember that 3-2 game.
“I remember being sat in the press box and watching Pickford walk down the tunnel and some fans were by the entrance. He didn’t flip them off but he didn’t seem too far away from doing something.
“That just riled the crowd up and he didn’t need to do that because that definitely played into Newcastle’s hands and in the second half, Newcastle were in his head. From an Everton point of view you just have to hope he’s matured and he doesn’t let it impact him because the first sign of weakness he shows on Thursday with the chants, Newcastle fans will be even more on his back.”
Ahead of the game against Newcastle this week, Sean Dyche said he hadn’t noticed Pickford getting more stick than other players do.
Pickford said after the game against Nottingham Forest: “It’s not been too bad (his focus) for the last three or four years”.
While Dyche claimed: “I think it’s a work in progress with him that calmness.”
This is how fans reacted as Everton delete the video of Jordan Pickford making a gesture towards Newcastle supporters…
@ianftmgilling: You can take the lad out of Sunderland but you’ll never take Sunderland out of the lad 👍🏻👍🏻
@NUFCblogcouk: Jordan Pickford really is insufferable… 😆 for what it’s worth, I don’t actually blame Pickford for giving it the big one – most would do the same as a Sunderland fan and all the jeers – I just can’t stand the bloke 🤣
@ColinCw77: We give it to him big . So fair play to him, he deserves to celebrate like that back to us. If we give it, we have to be able to take it back to
@JoshuaHarkey3: Tbf he had well enough of a game and they won 3-0 if that was Jacob Murphy or pope we’d all be laughing and loving it. Let’s not be hypocritical about these things (to the fans pissed about this)
@Andy_11_: So we abuse him when we win but when we lose, we can’t have banter back?
@mjpomar: I honestly don’t blame him, he’s been taking shit from us for a long while now. Let him have his moment in the sun, we deserved everything we got tonight 🙁
@BLDeliveries: You give him abuse every game from the build up to the full time whistle and every opportunity so what do expect when he keeps a clean sheet against your lot
@LeeGibbins: Can’t give and not take it lads 😂😂 We’ll get him back at our place 😜
@toffeeblue76: He’s perfectly entitled to do it after the chants about him all game
@blooboylukie: What a guy! 💙
@sam_arthur: Good on him. Let him have his moment. I’m fairly confident we’ll have a few more against him over the coming years.
@SkywalkerCraig1: What. A. Wanker 🙄
@mirfieldblade: He’s got you on string 🤣
@HJJ92_: Idiots this lot. Give Pickford 90 mins of abuse every single time and start crying the moment he gives it back
@mathewclarke: If you give him stick the whole game and his team wins 3-0, surely you’ve got to accept he gives you a little something back. It’s all in the game
@cj87EFC: Sing about him more than your own club and then cry when he gives a bit back 😭😭😭 what’s happened to Newcastle? They used to be a fun group of fans. Professional cryarses now
@James_Thomson93: Absolute wind up merchant 🤣 got time for that 👏🏽
@jmcgurk20: Fair play to him 🤣 after the shit we give him all the time. Fucker I’d be doing exactly the same
@AlexThomasSCFC: Haha what a fucking bloke
