LATEST ENGLAND TEAM ANNOUNCED:

Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Joe Gomez, Michael Keane, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, Mason Mount, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Declan Rice, Harry Winks

Forwards: Harry Kane, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling, Callum Wilson

As can be seen above, Tyrone Mings and Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been called up to the England squad for the first time and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also gets a surprise call up.

England will host both matches but in two different locations, the first one against Bulgaria will be held at Wembley Stadium on Saturday the 7th of September (5pm kick off), and the Kosovo match being played at Southampton’s St Marys Stadium on Tuesday the 10th of September (7:45pm kick off) and both of the Euro 2020 Qualifiers will be televised on ITV.

England manager Gareth Southgate: “We only have eight matches before I’ve got name squad for European Championships. September is always a difficult squad to name because of the limited games at club level.

“Fitness and the importance of it has dictated some of the squad as has some of the exciting young players we want to look at and get involved.”

Southgate on the inclusion of Aaron Wan-Bissaka: “We tracked him all last year.

“He’s adapted well and quickly to a high profile move and playing in front of 70,00 fans brings an intensity and pressure. It’s an opportunity to look at two young players and we also wanted to reintegrate Kieran Tripper back into the group.

“He’s had a huge move to Atletico Madrid and started there really well. Kyle [Walker] has started the season really well, he’s not playing badly, it’s the opposite. So we explained the rationale to him.”

More from Gareth Southgate: “We lack some experience in certain positions but we have to keep evolving. We can’t stand still. There are young players coming through that we need to integrate.”

Southgate on the inclusion of Mason Mount: “Mason is in on merit. He looks like threatening the goal every time he plays. I’ve watched him since 16 playing through the various age groups.

“He’s not in based on three games this season, he’s in on the back after a successful year in the Eredivisie, a year at Derby and he’s improved at every level he’s played at.”

As ever, the announcement made by England on their social media accounts got heavily talked about with some agreeing with who was picked and others naming a select few that should have got axed – see what they’ve written by clicking on the next page.
