EFL Awards 2024: The Winners List

The winners list are gradually being revealed for the much anticipated 2024 EFL Awards, which took place on Sunday the 14th of April.

The 2024 EFL Awards celebrates and recognises the continued efforts and achievements of Championship, League One and League Two clubs, players and individuals during what has been an incredibly challenging season for everyone.

The guests arrived at Grosvenor House in London with proceedings starting at 6pm and expected to end at around 10pm.

Contribution to League Football Award

The Contribution to League Football Award winner is former Blackpool and Manchester City player Paul Stewart!

Speaking on stage after winning the award, Paul Stewart said: “I want to dedicate this award to all those who had the dream I did, to be a footballer, but little did I know that was the dream that lead to me suffering physical and sexual abuse.

“I want to dedicate this to all my colleagues who suffered and continue to suffer from the abuse becausr they dared to have a dream and to all those who are not with us because the abuse was too much to bare.”

Community Club of the Year nominees

Next up is the Community Club of the Season. The nominees are:

He has had a career defining season for Notts County after the midfielder broke the League Two assist record back in February with his 20th assist of the season, and currently has 23 assists to his name in the league.

Rob Apter, on loan from League One side Blackpool, has racked up an impressive 11 goals and six assists in 39 matches for Rovers this season

Will Vaulks has won the award for his strong and supportive connection to the Club’s Community Organisation work and his wider charitable commitments including the Bluebell Wood children’s charity and the role he played in executing The Baton of Hope relay for mental health awareness. 

He is a credit to the Club and the League.

Sir Tom Finney Award winner

The winner of the Sir Tom Finney Award is Luke Chambers for his commitment to the League!

Speaking on stage, Luke Chambers said: “It was a bit of a surprise to be honest. To be here is absolutely incredible with all these incredible players, people and staff of the EFL.”

He continued: “There’s nothing I can really pick out. I left football and had to have a break, so I haven’t really taken stock of everything I’ve achieved during my career until tonight to be honest.”

Crysencio Summerville, Championship Player of the Season, said after winning his award: “I’m on another level than before. The manager plays a big role and I’m happy with the manager and how he treats the players. We have a young group but it’s been a good season so far.

“When we went down, I thought I was going to stay at Leeds and help the team to get back to where they belong and I’m happy I can help the team with my assists and goals. The Championship is very difficult and it’s very tough but I am enjoying it because I like games.”

League One Manager of the Year John Mousinho said after winning the award: “I’ve absolutely loved it. When the call came in, I didn’t expect to be offered the job. I thank the Club for taking that risk on me and it was a big risk, so it was a lot of faith that they put in me to do what we’re trying to achieve. The players have been incredible this year and we’ve got three lads in the Team of the Season which gives me even more pride than winning this.

“The Portsmouth fans over the last 15 years have gone through a fair bit. For them to be able to experience a bit of success would mean the world to everyone connected to the Football Club and give the fans a reward for all of the hardship they’ve been through.”

Accepting his award, Kieran McKenna said: “[The side] been fantastic, it’s such a competitive division and things go down to the very last minute. You can’t win every match but we’ve shown we can win. 

“We’ve got three big games, first we’re going up to Hull to play Liam’s excellent side then we have two other games but we have that one first. It’s not going to be easy.”
