England star Declan Rice responds after a video did the rounds online of him being choked by Harry Kane in a goal celebration against Ukraine.
The West Ham player was spotted looking rather uncomfortable and quickly going red in the face as his international teammate wrapped his arm around his neck while England celebrated Harry Maguire’s goal on Saturday evening.
The Three Lions stormed to an emphatic 4-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico to set up a semi-final meeting with Denmark at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.
Rice, who has established himself as a mainstay for England in recent seasons, enjoyed a strong performance and even came close to scoring prior to half time with a thunderous effort that was parried away by Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan.
He was eventually substituted during the second half, with Southgate unwilling to risk the prospect of a yellow card that would have seen the Hammers skipper ruled out of the semi-final clash with Denmark.
Rice looked to be in some discomfort before the England captain pulled back his arm in a comical moment that was picked up by fans and posted to Twitter.
Why always me🙃🤣 https://t.co/4YZC6eRZsd

The man himself responded to the incident after the match, jokingly tweeting: “Why always me?”
It comes just days after Rice also went viral for picking up cramp in his foot whilst Harry Kane went to celebrate scoring against Germany.
Rice wasn’t going to let that stop him celebrating England’s second goal, even if he did collapse in agony in his attempts to catch up with his teammates the other side of the pitch.
The midfielder was just coming back on to the pitch after stretching for the ball on the right wing when Kane headed in Jack Grealish’s cross to put the Three Lions in dreamland.
However as Rice attempted to go over and join in the celebrations, he was hit with a bolt of pain in his right leg – causing him to dramatically fall to the ground.
While he couldn’t join in the pile of players on top of England’s captain, Rice had his own celebration, raising his arms to the air as his knees dropped to the floor.
The cramp was worth it in the end🤣🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/eX0F3TcSwW

Harry Kane said after the win against Ukraine: “We know it’s going to be a tough game. But we know as well if we get it right and play how we know we can, then we have a great opportunity to get to a final.
“A lot of us playing now won’t have the opportunity to have a big game like that at Wembley in a major tournament again. It’s an opportunity for us and we have to grab it with both hands. We have to enjoy being in that environment.
“Coming off the back of the Germany game, the spirits were high and the stadium was rocking so hopefully we can use that energy again and really take the game to Denmark.”
Gareth Southgate praised his England players for grasping the opportunity of making the Euro 2020 semi-finals but has challenged them to go even further.
He said: “We didn’t want to take a backward step. We wanted to grasp this opportunity rather than just hope we might win or let fate have a chance to play its part. I thought the players were decisive and ruthless all night.
“It’s fabulous. I suppose it’s still sinking in that it’s another semi-final – three in three years.
“We want to go two steps further. I know what will be happening at home. It’s lovely to see everyone on a Saturday night, beer in hand. They should enjoy it. It’s been a long year for everyone. I’m chuffed the two performances have brought so much happiness to people.
“It’s fabulous for our country – a semi-final at Wembley. Everyone can really look forward to that – it’s brilliant.
“We’re not satisfied. Tonight is another very enjoyable night for everybody but even before the end of the game, I was thinking about the next challenge. We have never been to a European Championship final. It’s another opportunity to make history.”
