We continue our look at the favourites for Sunderland manager…
3) DANIEL STENDEL
Daniel Stendel is out of work after he resigned at Barnsley in October 2019 due to disagreements with the Barnsley board over the summer business and the board’s concerns with the horrid run of results has apparently made his position untenable.
Stendel came in at Barnsley back in June 2018 and manage to guide them to an immediate return to the Championship at the end of his first season. His record as Barnsley boss: G66, W31, D18, L17.
He previously managed Hannover 96 after coaching the under 19 team. He was sacked on 20 March 2017.[6] He finished with a record of 17 wins, nine draws, and eight losses.
Stendel has also had a playing career with German clubs between 1994 and 2008.

2) PAUL COOK
Paul Cook is the current manager of Wigan Athletic, they sit 19th in the Championship table as of the 9th of October 2019.
Since being appointed by the Latics in May 2017, he led Wigan to the League One title and on an impressive FA Cup run that claimed three shocks against top flight opponents West Ham United, Bournemouth and Manchester City.
He has had some concerning results this season however and suggested that he could be at risk of departing.
Cook said to the media in August: “I don’t want to become one of those boring, repetitive managers. If results stay the same, someone else will be speaking to you – that’s how football is, that’s the nature of the game.
“I pride myself in my teams and how we play but that wasn’t a team I enjoyed watching today.
“It wasn’t good enough.
“I’m always a manager who fully backs his players. But I’m at my wits’ end with them at the moment. That’s nowhere near where we want to be as a team and as a club.
“Supporters clapping you off at the end is what I pride myself on as a manager. They travelled 250 miles and aren’t clapping us off after that, that’s for sure.
“If results stay the same then someone else will be speaking to you. That’s how football is. That’s the nature of the game and how it is.”

1) GARETH AINSWORTH
Gareth Ainsworth has been Wycombe boss since 2012 and guided Wanderers to promotion in 2018, and to their highest ever position of 1st in League One in September 2019.
He is a former player of Lincoln, he made 83 appearances and scored 37 goals. Other clubs to have played for are Northwich, Preston, Cambridge, Port Vale, Wimbledon, Walsall, Cardiff, QPR and Wycombe.
Ainsworth is a very attack-minded manager, and likes his teams to play aggressively and with a high press.
Current odds on Sky Bet: 7/4
