Reading reportedly sack their manager after less than 10 months in charge

It has been revealed that Reading are to confirm the sacking of their first team manager Jose Gomes following a meeting last night.

His side have slipped into the relegation after their defeat to Bristol City on Saturday and the Portuguese was said to have met with the board yesterday to discuss his future.

His reign is expecting to end after less than 10 months in charge with an announcement expected on Wednesday.

Journalists reported that Gomes was talking with Reading’s board on Monday night and was looking likely to be dismissed days after their 1-0 defeat at Bristol City last weekend.

@samrourke_ also stated: “Been told that Jose Gomes and his staff’s authority in the dressing room had severely deteriorated in the last few weeks. Also told several first-team players had nicknamed him a ‘Car Salesman’ because he ‘talked a good game’ – Make of that what you will..”

It means they have now lost five of their last six matches and two wins from 11 games, now they sit 22nd in the Championship table.

He was appointed last December and guided Reading to a 20th place finish last season, ending the campaign just seven points above the drop zone and many fans satisfied with the job he’s done.

Reading are to use the international break to search for a new manager.
