Crawley owners WAGMI United apologise for posting “bad taste” video about Carlisle

Crawley Town owners WAGMI United have took to apologise for posting a “bad taste” video about Carlisle United ahead of the opening game.

A 25 second clip, which was supposed to be some sort of “scouting report” saw an American man dressed as a red devil and making some digs at Carlisle.

It attracted plenty of reaction from various supporters including that of Carlisle with a number of Crawley fans saying the video left them embarrassed.

It was posted on the social media accounts of the club’s USA cryptocurrency-group owners WAGMI United on Thursday but was quickly taken down following backlash.

They wrote: “We want to apologize to the fans who found a video posted earlier to be in bad taste.

“Weโ€™ve heard you, need to do better and promise that next weekโ€™s Leyton Orient preview will be more on-brand for English Football.”

The rather bizarre video saw the American say: “Crawley Town red devil here, today we are talking about Carlisle United FC. Why do we hate them? Erm first of all they are nicknamed the Cumbrians. You ain’t gunna win soccer matches if your brains are made on cum. Oh I’m sorry, I meant they are the Cum-Brians, so a Cumb-brian is someone who comes from the English county of Cumbria…. boring! If I’m gunna root for a Cum-Brian, they better be some hot Australian guy named Brian, who eats a lot of pineapple.”

Yeah, it’s quite possibly one of the weirdest videos we’ve ever seen, unprofessional from the owners and not really sure what it achieved. Have some class maybe?

@AndyVallans64: Embarrassing

@BantamsSticks: Is this their attempt at humour?

@BantamsSticks: Comedy gold but not for the right reasons. Laughable owners.

@j17_jj: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@petehotchkiss: Embarrassing and almost certainly in breach of EFL regulations in how owners are permitted to behave.

@alexwoody348: Why are Americans astronomically odd?

@Chris_Worsey: Wtf is this

@adamski_nft: Itโ€™s terrible, is what it is.

@LowerThanRy: Itโ€™s just embarrassing that this is who is running our club ๐Ÿ˜”

@KieranBCAFC: Dear Stefan Rupp, Thank you for not allowing these clowns anywhere near Bradford City.

@archstfcc: this is shocking ๐Ÿ˜‚

@LEEROTHERHAM: Put this buffoon back in his place @officialcufc lads. Ignorant soccerrrr “fans”.

@tunny2311: What a wanker

@TJBVideography: Come on, @officialcufc ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

@SeanyBizzlez: Games gone

@Joshgreen93: Remove them from the league asap

@TomFarmer2712: what is this ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@DavidRutt: Jesus ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@CalMacYT: Absolute trainwreck. NFT bros are the worst man lmaoooo

@Guydawson12: Wagmi United, (“We’re All Gonna Make It”), a US-based consortium crypto sports company + owner of Crawley Town FC, bought for $5m, thought they’d run with this prior to their clash at Cumbrian’s Carlisle United tomorrow at 3pm……. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Brunton Park reception awaits

@andrewparker152: Wow. We dodged a bullet with this load of fucktards. #bcafc

@PicardyBreezer: What in the check his hard drive is this? ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Mattbcafc: we wanted these as our owners ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@joefrancis93: Do think videos of Wael dressed as a pirate slating other teams is exactly what this club has been missing

@bcafcwin: The laughing stock of the football league. #BCAFC #EFL

@Joshb__123: The state of it ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Chipstead_Gas: Fuck me really ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@CazSCFC: And I thought the Vanarama was weird. What. Is. This? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

@danp_89: We donโ€™t โ€˜hateโ€™ Carlisle and this is embarrassing. Seriously who on earth thinks itโ€™s professional to tweet stuff like this?

@Paul83719268: It wasn’t even remotely funny ๐Ÿ˜, not even banter !!!

@Twittakeith: Very poor taste, this will not help any travelling fans receive a warm welcome from the locals, embarrassing ๐Ÿ™ˆ

@AidanAS2001: I actually can’t believe a club has now made a worse video than Reading’s music video but Crawley have managed to do it somehow #STFC

@bean_captain: Shockingly bad. Employ someone who knows about British banter not this embarrassing shambles.

@DylanMartinSW19: Crawley in administration by Christmas heard it here first

@JoeAFCW: Should be a points deduction just for that

@1rhysparsons: Christ.

@NFTKatie: A lot, if not the majority of English football fans were not impressed. Appreciate you listening to the community & apologising, but as many hodlers have invested in you. I would delete the previous post from all social media platforms. I know WAGMI, but as an United team๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

@BensonBCFC: Thank you Stephan Rupp ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ

@CTFC_Goyder: This is a fucking travesty. Please delete. Its a poor attempt at humour and not at all what English FOOTBALL is about. Can we maybe try working to include the Crawley Town fans who’ve helped keep our club going for years rather than solely aim to appeal to a niche market.

@JonesFobar: Terrible. Nothing funny about it and shows the owners don’t care what genuine fans are about. Pure trash

@whereskay: Are we still all gutted that these guys didnโ€™t but #bcafc???

@JonesFobar: Never do this type of video again. As a Crawley born and bred support I’m genuinely surprised you think this is good banter. Terrible idea and shows you in a shitty light. Do better

@luckytezza: WTAF! Disrespectful to Carlisle, FOOTBALL (not Soccer) and Scotland too! They say even bad publicity is good publicity but on this occasion a massive own goal. Have no clue about English football and fans. Feel for Crawley fans

@TaylorBricytec: This video is disgraceful. Letโ€™s respect the opposition. For home matches I enjoy talking with the opposition supporters in Redz bar. Treat the opposition with respect and they will treat us with respect.
