Rob Elliot apologises to fans after Carlisle receive loud boos in their 5-2 defeat to Woking on Saturday afternoon.

Shadrach Ogie had put Woking ahead 7 minutes in, before an own goal from Chinwike Okoli levelled the scoreline two minutes later.

After Matt Ward got Woking ahead again early second half, John Marquis netted a hat-trick, including two penalties to make it 5-1. Regan Linney then got Carlisle’s second.

The result sees the Cumbrians sitting 19th in the National League table with 10 points from 10 games, while Woking are 16th with 12 points.

The Carlisle head coach said, as per the club website: “It’s a completely disappointing performance.

“First half, we should have scored five or six. Same old story, not putting the ball in the net, not enough quality around the goal.

“And then for 15 or 20 minutes in the second half, we completely mentally capitulated. It’s not acceptable.”

“We reset. We look at who can help us and who can’t.

“We look at who’s willing to fight and who’s willing to come along for the journey to make this club better.

“We need to be realistic and look at what does work and what doesn’t, and we need to make those tough decisions.”

He continued: “I think there’s enough belief in the group, but not after that second-half performance.

“First half, we created multiple chances, clean chances to score, to win games and put the game to bed. We don’t do it, and then we go under second half with a bit of pressure, which is not acceptable.

“I can only apologise to the supporters. You’ve got to be ruthless, and we weren’t good enough today.”

Morgan Feeney, the captain, said, as per the club website: “Not good enough by a large margin second half.

“A disgraceful performance in terms of getting to the ball, putting our foot in, winning our duels, putting the ball in the back of the net and keeping the ball out of our net.

“It’s not the standard that would be accepted at this football club, and we need to have a hard look at ourselves because that’s not good enough.”

He continued: “It seemed like a bit of a lack of effort at times, which is unacceptable in any football ability that you play, whatever level you play at.

“We were slow getting to the ball second half, we didn’t win our duels, and we gave them too many chances.

“We haven’t had a clean sheet this season, and that’s not good enough for this football club.

“We’ve got to be better as a group of players; we’ve got to look each other in the eye, and we’ve got to demand from each other.

“We’ve got to be stronger, we’ve got to be more aggressive, we’ve got to be louder, and we’ve got to be more demanding of each other.

“It’s not can we do it; it’s we’ve got to do it, and it’s got to be done now.”

Nowhere near good enough and thatā€™s from the owners to the board to the manager to the coaches to the players and the club is absolutely rotten from top to bottom.
