Conor Coady cheekily hits back at Jordan Henderson over a Liverpool vs Everton question put to him during World Cup duty.
After being asked whether he was a blue or red, the England defender, who is currently on loan at Everton from Wolves, hilariously retorted at the Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
Everton manager Frank Lampard wanted to strengthen his defensive options, and done so by bringing in Coady for the season with a view to buy.
The 29 year old played over 300 games for the West Midlands outfit and has been involved in 14 of Everton’s Premier League matches this season.
Coady was included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad to Qatar for the World Cup. However, the Wolves loanee was not used for matches against Iran or the USA and if anything is more beneficial to the squad behind the scenes especially when it comes to morale and focus.
Henderson, who was on the bench in England’s 0-0 draw with USA, couldn’t resist making fun of Coady before the Three Lions’ clash against Wales.
Speaking in a video posted on England’s social media channels, Hendo said: “Conor, we are all England here.
“But what I really want to know is are you blue or red?”
A smirking Henderson broke out in laughter after the question, which led to the Everton man saying that “without a shadow of a doubt” he was a blue.
“Of course I’m blue. For him to come out and ask that is daft!” @JHenderson didn’t hold back with his question for Conor Coady on #LionsDen with @marksandspencer 🔴🔵 pic.twitter.com/o7wjf2F00p

Responding to Henderson, Coady said: “Do you know what, that is so poor from him.
“We have banter all the time and obviously, I’m playing at Everton. He knows, he knows, deep down. So, for him to come out there and ask that question.
“I’m blue. Of course, I’m blue. Without a shadow of a doubt and for him to say that, you know what, I’m going to go back there and sit down with him and have a coffee, and give him a bit.
“That’s nowhere near good enough from the big fella.”
As a local lad, a return to Merseyside appealed to Coady, but he’d probably rather join Liverpool than Everton with Coady making it no secret in the past that he’s a Liverpool supporter, and before signing for the club, it produced a mixed feeling with how Everton supporters view the deal.
Coady went on the record to speak about supporting Liverpool in 2019.
“Everybody knows I supported Liverpool growing up but I’m playing for Wolves now,” he said.
“I look at Liverpool’s results and hope they win games – it’s as simple as that.
“But I play for Wolves now and I play for this football club no matter who we are playing against. We’re going there to win and that’s the mentality we’ll all have.
“My mates are all Liverpool season ticket holders. They keep saying things to me about it. I’ve had millions of ticket requests, absolutely millions. I don’t know how I’m going to do it to be honest.”
Coady might well be a Liverpool fan, but having joined Everton, he’s bound to give his all for the Toffees, while they have their favourite teams, they’re professionals paid good money to do their jobs and that comes before anything else, right?
As mentioned by HITC: “We’ve seen fans of either club cross these borders in the past, Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler were all Evertonians before joining Liverpool, and they didn’t do too badly for themselves at Anfield, did they?
“Coady’s Liverpool allegiances will certainly be a talking point if this deal happens, but it probably won’t affect his performances for the Toffees…”
