A coach gets sent off after running on to the pitch to stop a counter attack in a 6th tier match in Italian football at the weekend.
It came as Pontassieve played host to Subbiano, with the visitors’ coach Alessio Guidotti entering the field and deliberately brought down a player who was making his way towards the goal minutes before the end of the first half.
As a Pontassieve player advanced through, following a well-placed through ball, the Subbiano coach, dressed in an orange bib, tripped the player up.
He then even had the cheek to try and defend his actions as players from Pontassieve quickly approached him in confrontation.
Lorenzo Bettoni (@LoreBetto), who posted the video, adds: “Subbiano coach Alessio Guidotti will likely be fired.
The video has since gone viral getting over 560,000 views at the time of writing and over 4,400 likes on Twitter. Have a watch of this…

The game ending up finishing in a goalless draw, and Pontassieve coach Marco Guidi said at the end of the match that his counterpartโs behaviour was โoutrageous, to say the least,โ as per Daicollifiorentini.
โI am mostly sorry for Subbiano because they are a famous and respectful club. Their coachโs attitude sullied them and affected the gameโs outcome because we were attacking two against one.โ
The Subbiano coach didnโt speak with the local media following the game, but the club hinted that Guidotti would likely be sacked: โWe are making assessments before releasing an official statement.โ
Here’s how Twitter users reacted on a coach gets sent off after running on to the pitch to stop a counter attack in the Italian 6th tier match…
@andythephotoDr: Something as blatant as that should be punished by awarding a goal and sending the coach off
@Davidthurgood: That’s a “sorry, had to be done” hands up by the looks of it.
@DevAdvocateFPL: The covering defender would likely have got across in time to prevent the goal anyway!
@steedwalsh: Surprised he didn’t gesticulate the “dive” motion
@CanningtonCaz: Match should just be awarded to the other team in that scenario. The red card is no punishment.
@tylerlochte: Bro put his arms up like he didnโt do nothin
@Binatch2: Tactical foul. Saved a goal.๐
@Stockradamus1: I love how no one noticed how the first played went in so hard and tried to break his leg to stop counter and second player tried to tackle too and missed lol so coach showed them how it’s done
@olswmc: Thought he got the ball tbf.
@ollie_warren99: If a coach or manager did this in the 94th minute of a World Cup, Champions League, or Continental tournament final, would they be praised as a hero? Absolutely.
@Andrew_Clarkson: Linesman flagging ๐๐๐๐๐
@RussellAinslie: Even steve Evans wouldn’t do this.
@AMADUFC:
FAF.
More of this from managers please ๐๐
@Greekbluenose: Hands in the air and pleading innocence is a beautiful touch.
@RaymondoBroon: The hands in the air is a lovely touch.
@wozaboxa: Now this, THIS is Glorious.
@Davey_Ennis_1: Even holds his hands up as if to say he didnโt touch him ๐๐๐๐
@Will_Caldwell10: All ball, play on.
@shaniefla: This is unbelievable . Didnโt touch him ref ๐๐ป
@MichaelBruno05: The hands up after ๐
@jaisaphene: Absolutely insane! ๐๐๐
@anjody17: I wish there was an option to do this in Football Manager.. Get your stuff right @FootballManager!
@liam_kelly3: Got a lot of time for it
@Celticbhoy1983: That innocent hands up I didnโt touch him is engrained in Italians ๐๐
@foreverayellow: haha that doesn’t surprise me with it coming from italian football, like chiellini pulling back saka, dirty shithousery
@paulfosterly: what the fuck haha imagine becoming so desperate to go and do something as wild as that, i mean yeah it kept his side in the game, but now he’s gunna go and get himself sacked haha so stupid
@NATTERFOOTBALL: The raising of the arms to suggest that he has done absolutely nothing wrong makes this clip even more amazing. ๐

Reminds me of this legendary moment in a Dutch cup game. An official of De treffers (amateurs) heading the ball in order to prevent a NEC (pros) goal. https://t.co/i02IkGocmB
