Chelsea fan abruptly ends interview trying to fight mocking West Ham fans before police step in

A Chelsea fan abruptly ends an interview trying to fight mocking West Ham fans before police step in outside Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Footage is quickly going viral, showing @couldhavegonepro speaking with a Blues supporter trying to get his thoughts on the game and it’s controversial decisions.

All seems well at first, both are having a discussion, but you can’t ignore what is going on behind them, with police pushing a fan and there being a sense of a slightly hostile tense atmosphere if you like, as if you know something is going to kick off.

The Chelsea fan is then told to “fuck off you silly cunt”, and that was when he lost it with the taunting supporter, charging at him before he stops himself and the other guy is dragged away, diffusing the flare up.

The Chelsea fan goes back to the interviewer, takes position and seems ready to restart it, saying “ok, take two” with a smirk on his face. Though just as it gets going again, the Chelsea fan’s smile dropped and this time he went charging at a different supporter who was abusing him. Laughing before running at him in front of an oncoming child, looked to throw his fists at the abuser, but out of nowhere, police rapidly swoop in, see it in full below…

The interview doesn’t get back underway, instead the Chelsea fan ends up falling to the ground and is told his abuser was taken away by police, so he legs it towards them in the distance.

The game itself saw substitute Kai Havertz scord a late winner as Chelsea got a dramatic victory over West Ham, though David Moyes was left furious by a “scandalous” decision to rule out a 90th-minute Hammers equaliser.

Maxwel Cornet pounced after Edouard Mendy parried the ball into his path, however referee Andrew Madley was told to consult the pitchside monitor and then ruled Jarrod Bowen had fouled the Chelsea keeper in the build-up.

The Hammers frustrated Chelsea in the first half, seeing plenty of home possession but no shots on target for either side, and looked to have executed their gameplan to perfection when Michail Antonio found the net after 62 minutes, bundling in from close range after Mendy failed to deal with a corner.

Chelsea brought on Ben Chilwell and he got the scoreline level from a tight angle, and then came the frantic finale with Cornet almost winning it late on for the visitors, only to see his header come back off the post and the Blues immediately score through a clinical Havertz finish from Chilwell’s cross.

There was still time for more drama with Cornet thinking he had levelled with a strike that was then disallowed.

“It is a scandalous decision,” Moyes told Match of the Day on a day full of VAR errors in the Premier League it would seem. “I always thought he would say it is a goal once he went to the screen – I have seen it from all angles and find it incredibly difficult to see how that is chalked off.”

“The goalkeeper comes to take it, and actually fumbles it out of his hands five or six yards, so he could never recover it,” said Moyes. “Then he acted as if he had a shoulder injury. I’m amazed that VAR sent the referee to see it.

“It was a ridiculously bad decision. I’d question VAR as much as the referee, but the referee should have stuck to his own guns – there is no excuse for that not to be a goal, none whatsoever. The sad thing is this is the level of the weak refereeing at the moment.

“I think the worst thing is we’re sitting and watching it. We’ve been told there would be more contact. But that sounds as if there’s no contact with any goalies, and we didn’t get told that.”

Moyes, who also accused Mendy of trying to “fake an injury” when West Ham scored the opening goal, said he was “embarrassed” for VAR official Jarred Gillett.

“Jarrod [Bowen] said he never touched the goalkeeper at all,” he added. “And if you look at it, he jumps him. There might have been a trailing foot if there was anything at all.

“I make loads of mistakes, referees can make loads of mistakes, but I would hope if the referee made a mistake that’s why it’s corrected by VAR.”
