In the 2016/17 season, Newcastle United were top of the Championship at Christmas.
They just like in 2009 finished in 1st and crowned champions.

In the 2017/18 season, Wolverhampton Wanderers were top of the Championship at Christmas.
They just like in 2008 finished in 1st and crowned champions.
