A 21 year old London bus driver gets sacked after being mobbed by Chelsea fans for wearing a Liverpool shirt with footage gone viral.
Isaac was notified that he was no longer employed after a video done the rounds on social media of Chelsea fans surrounding his rail replacement bus when they spotted him wearing a Liverpool shirt following Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.
The incident, which caused significant disruption, was captured on video and went viral on social media. Isaac, who was driving a District Line replacement bus, was dismissed by his agency for breaching uniform policy after the video circulated widely.
Despite the chaotic experience, he was not traumatised and appeared on TalkTV still wearing the Liverpool shirt.
He expressed frustration with Transport for London (TFL) bus operator roles and plans to transition to coach work instead.

Interviewer: “So nobody told you before you got on the bus you can’t wear a football shirt to drive the bus?”
Bus driver: “No, no one had a problem with it. No one told me cover it up. No one told me any of that. It was literally just go on, carry on doing your thing. Just carry on driving the bus, I suppose. They weren’t too fussed about what I was wearing. No.”
Interviewer: “And what was the railway replacement that you were replacing? What was the railway you were replacing? What railway line wasn’t running?”
Bus driver: “Right, so was the district line.”
Interviewer: Yeah, so on a match day when Chelsea are playing, pretty much the only way you can get there is on the district line, they’ve shut the district line, brilliant.”
Bus driver: “That’s TFL for you. TFL nowadays.
Interviewer: “Absolutely right. So at what point, so when you got back to the depot, was that when they fired you or what?”
Bus driver: “No, so it happened the next, on Monday morning, they sent an email over, my agency did, they sent an email saying regarding the events on Saturday the 4th of October. We’re dismissing you due to a uniform policy.”
Interviewer: “So did they see the video or something?”
Bus driver: “Yeah, the video has circulated all over social media. It went rapid. All the platforms went on and they told me that the bus company had also seen it as well.”
Interviewer: “So, like, a few million people have seen this now.”
Bus driver: “Yeah, it’s been all over the place. I’ve been waking up seeing it. I’ve had my friends, my family. It hasn’t ended. I didn’t think it would go so big, but it’s quite a surreal experience, I suppose.”
Interviewer: “Yeah, yeah. Absolutely right. But you’re still wearing the shirt today, though, so obviously it hasn’t traumatised you too much.”
Bus driver: “No, it hasn’t traumatised me at all, to be honest. I saw the funny side of it when I was watching the videos, but when I was sitting in that cabin at that time it wasn’t so funny, I was holding the window shut because the window and the driver side is meant to it lock from the inside, but it didn’t so I was literally holding it so you can see on the video there I’m talking to someone who’s open it from the outside right briefly and then I’m holding it shut afterwards, then you realise that Chelsea fans were able to…”
Interviewer: “Yeah, was going to say, the chanting seems relatively good-natured. It’s not as they’re being really horrible, though, right?”
Bus driver: “They’re just chanting Chelsea, right? Oh, that’s the only chant. They have no other chant. That’s what it says. Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea.”
Interviewer: “They might have. And so, I mean, what are you going to do about losing your job? Are you going to repeal that, or are you going to go work for another bus company? What?”
Bus driver: “Well, to be honest with you, I’m quite tired of working like a TFL bus operator. I’ve worked for numerous TFL bus operators now. I don’t really like it anymore. I’m looking to transfer over to Coachwork for a good coach company now. We looked after their staff…”
Twitter users reacted after the 21 year old bus driver gets sacked after being mobbed by Chelsea fans for wearing a Liverpool shirt…
@richardcalhoun: What is wrong with these people … however if the driver was an agency driver he wasn’t sacked … the owner of the bus company clearly told his agent they wanted a different driver in future. I doubt there is any case for wrongful dismissal.
@portsinfien: What did he expect? You can’t wear a rival team’s top to drive by a stadium, especially on the day they are playing each other. Its okay slagging the bus company but say some idiot had lobbed a brick through a window and a passenger got hit, the bus company is liable
@KurlejLee: I thought bus drivers have a uniform?
@7allym: I bet he wishes he worked for Sky. You can do anything there and keep your job @Carra23 @GNev2
@AlCAFC1905: Not unfair dismissal, the driver did something stupid also knowing will get a reaction from the Chelsea fans. All for Christmas jumpers at Christmas but football supporting shirts a no.
@SpectreUK7: Oh ffs I can’t stand Liverpool at all but this is just a bit of harmless banter. Grown men getting upset. Fuckin hell.
@StonelawLtd: Don’t they have uniforms 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@thecityofgibb: he wore it on purpose thinking he’s clever well he is not idiot
@MarkCFC2021: Attention seeking muppet, let’s be brutally honest here!! #FAFO
@Gasperoni27: What a dumb, provocative thing to do. Bus drivers should have a uniform, not wear what the fuck you want, especially football shirts. Ffs
