Bury FC release highlights of their emphatic 5-1 opening day win over Glossop North End at Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon.
It was a day to remember for everyone associated with not just the Shakers, but the town too as the club enjoyed a triumphant return to competitive football at their home stadium.
It is the first time in four years they have played competitively at Gigg Lane since being expelled from the EFL in 2019 due to rising debts.
They picked up a 5-1 win against Glossop North End in the North West Counties League – the ninth tier of English football.
There were 5,451 in attendance for the much anticipated fixture – setting a new crowd record for the league.
Season ticket sales for Bury reached over 3,000 earlier thi week, with the atmosphere and support expected to helped the club potentially win promotion this season.
Following their expulsion from the Football League, some fans formed Bury AFC, in a bid to represent the town in non league football and play at Stainton Park.
The original Bury FC went on to be a fan-led business entity having bought the club from the administrator in 2022.
⚪🔵 Our story started in 1885…

It May 2023, the two clubs merged after a second vote, to bring Bury back at one club under the Bury FC name and playing matches at Gigg Lane.
The game against Glossop followed friendlies against Bradford City and Preston North End, with a good crowd present for them.
But it was the first competitive game that everyone was looking forward to going to, and it didn’t fail to disappoint.
