Burnley to decide between two contenders to become new manager as replacement for Vincent Kompany

Burnley are now trying to decide between two contenders to become their new manager as replacement for Vincent Kompany.

The Clarets are looking to potentially naming either Craig Bellamy or Scott Parker after seemingly missing out on ex-PSV boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutchman appears as though he is returning to Manchester United as assistant coach, and now the Mirror and other sources, say Bellamy and Parker are the other two in the frame.

Last week, Dutch outlet De Telegraaf has reported that van Nistelrooy was close to agreeing a “multi-year contract” to succeed Kompany as Burnley boss.

Burnley are said to be keen on identifying a big name for their vacancy with van Nistelrooy certainly fitting that criteria.

Bellamy is currently in interim charge, having been assistant to Vincent Kompany last season. However, Parker is one who the club’s board admires, which stands him in good stead.

Craig Bellamy is currently a clear bookies’ favourite to become the next Wales manager after they decided to part ways with Rob Page.

Bellamy had been interviewed for the job before FAW chiefs went for Ryan Giggs instead, and is understood to have put forward an impressive pitch for the role before missing out to Giggs.

The Burnley interim jumps previous favourite Osian Roberts, who is arguably the preferred choice with many supporters, in the odds.

Though Roberts is reportedly currently set to take on a role at Como after serving as caretaker boss at the club, whom he guided back into Serie A for the first time in 21 years.

FAVOURITES TO BECOME BURNLEY MANAGER
Craig Bellamy – 10/11
Scott Parker 3/1
Carlos Corberan – 4/1

FAVOURITES TO BECOME WALES MANAGER
Craig Bellamy – 10/11
Thierry Henry – 2/1
Osian Roberts – 7/2

This is what fans are saying with Burnley to decide between two contenders to become their new manager as replacement for Vincent Kompany…

@Crouchy1882: If that’s the case I’d go for parker

@UpTheClaretsFB: Got to be Parker. Bellamy will just be Vinny 2.0. Parker has two promotions on his CV.

@OdaleClaret: I wouldn’t fucking bother…

@BobDevineCSM: Thinking about Bellamy (experience aside) he knows the club, knows the boys and they know him, his style will be the same as VK so no real change there, he knows the championship inside out and he’ll gain valuable experience in a division he helped us win 2 seasons ago. 👍💜💙 He has premier league experience although as a no2 last season but still it’s experience! It may be a good transition to no1 ! I’m growing to it.

@Stevenleebolton: Bellers for me with an experienced number 2

@Stelup1964: Neither

@mcglynn_colin: They are joking 🙄? (Hopefully)

@claretmatt87: Well if it’s true then hopefully Bellamy, at least that would be easier to undo IF it didn’t work out. Whereas Parker would be harder to undo WHEN it didn’t work out.

@OfficialVizeh: For my honest opinion. Parker, do I think may be fine for the Championship? Perhaps. He’s got two promotions under his belt at the very least. Bellamy is an odd one, we’ll likely play the same style with minor tweaks, not much change which may be good for stability and a safe option. However IF we do get promoted (it’s an IF) we’ll be back in same situation as I don’t think either can adapt a team for the Prem.

@ccally45: For the record I would prefer someone else to either of these 2. However was told Bellamy a few weeks ago & Bellamy at least the players know his style personality etc… bit of continuity rather than Parker.

@BFCkingston: If it’s between these two surely we take Parker off the fact he knows how to promote a team ?? (I want Carlos Corrobean) #twitterclarets

@gmbarnard22: i think scott parker would wind me up

@jbafcb77: On behalf at all from Fulham and Bournemouth we send our sincere condolences #afcb #ffc

@adam_major1: Liquidate us immediately

@trickyclaret: Nah neither of them thank you

@NCFCZeb: My condolences regarding this terrible news 🙏

@martsparts: Congratulations on your 6th placed finish.

@xLepebble: Both feel like a gamble appointment imo. Don’t know why you’re not taking a trick out of your old book and sourcing someone from the division below. I’d be absolutely gutted if he went, but taking Skubala from us lot would be such a smart and cost efficient appointment.

@bennymcslats: The longer it goes on, I can see it being Bellamy. They’ll bank on the understudy logic. Think he’ll have the map. Least disruption. I think we were all in on RVN and they don’t fancy the rest.

@RobertSagarYT: Neither really but if it’s between the 2 then Bellamy as he knows the players and when he stepped in he came across well in the post match but we will see

@BrandonGoudie1: If this is the case, yet again the board scrambling for someone last munute like we did for a LB in summer last year, won’t comment too much on it until officially announced who but not looking good

@AlexDomun: None..our recruitment has been nothing but shambolic

@Therealgjj: Bellamy I guess. So underwhelming

@BeeReignBeau: Neither @AlanPaceBFC

@uptheclarets22: Both a bit uninspiring

@JohnWri93801178: Neither, both cheap uninspiring options

@BFCHarryy: The nearest bridge 👍

@Tomlawton17: Can’t believe we waited 3weeks for this. Underwhelming at best.

@Wilkinsongbird: Completely unproven Bellamy or a 2 time Championship promotion winner? Easy

@SenseClaret: It would be very disappointing unambitious and uninspiring after the noises made by the board w/their ownership – feel like there are better candidates out there that we should have the pull for with the base team, resources and expectations of promotion.

@ED__67: Scott Parker ball is more boring than Dyche, and less effective. Good luck.

@welshjay95: Bellamy is getting linked to the wales job

@syhrhys: Just a slight downgrade from kompany

@Zoot_Sax: If it is those two, then I’d take Bellamy immediately
