Bristol Rovers and MK Dons throw shade at each other in what had played out to be a random yet amusing Twitter spat this week.
Milton Keynes Dons had the last laugh if you like, picking up all three points at the Memorial Stadium thanks to goals from Mohamed Eisa (2′ pen) and Max Dean (90′).
On-loan Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah had a home debut to forget as Bristol Rovers fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to relegation-threatened MK Dons.
Quansah, 20, gave away a penalty after just three minutes. Mo Eisa converted it and Mark Jackson’s side with centre-back Eisa leaving his leg in front of Eisa while he beat his marker. After being brought down, the striker calmly sent a spot-kick down to the goal’s middle as Brentford loanee Ellery balcombe dived towards his left.
Joey Barton’s disjointed Rovers team couldn’t improve their game. They had to wait until 89 minutes before they could get a shot on target. Sam Finley’s long-range attempt was saved by Jamie Cumming.
MK Dons substitute Max Dean wrapped up the game in the first minute of injury time. Dean launched a quick counter-attack to win his team all three points and lift them out of the League One drop zone.
A third successive defeat dented Rovers’ promotion ambitions, sitting firmly in mid-table.
However Twitter beef has been shared between the two clubs, getting thousands of likes making plenty of supporters laughing.
MK Dons started on Friday: “❗️BRISTOL ROVERS TICKET UPDATE – IMPORTANT ❗️
“There will be NO on-the-day sales for away supporters at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, contrary to what the Club was told earlier in the week ❌
“On Monday, we were told that Bristol Rovers would will be selling tickets from the Away Booth situated next to the away turnstiles.
“However, the Club was then informed by email today (Friday) that on-the-day sales would no longer be available.
“We are in dialogue with the EFL regarding this matter as we are disappointed by this stance and for our supporters who were planning on travelling to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday to purchase their tickets and support the Dons.”

This caught the attention of Bristol Rovers, who replied: “Bristol Rovers Football Club is disappointed with the public messaging from MK Dons regarding their ticket allocation. It is our view that all matters such as these should be dealt with by clubs professionally and in private, as we have attempted to do.
“EFL rule 34.3.2 clearly states that ‘tickets are to be made available on a sale-or-return basis and must be ordered by the away club at least five weeks before the League match to which they relate’.
“MK Dons requested a ticketing allocation of 300.
“We contacted them at the start of the week of the match, the same way we would do for any other team to get their update.
“On Monday of this week, they had sold 206 of their allocation.
“At that point, with almost 100 tickets left to sell, our team advised theirs that the game could be pay-on-the-day, based on those remaining tickets being returned to the club.
“We were informed today that MK had sold their full allocation and were now requesting extra tickets to be made available on the day. This was the first time we had been asked for an increase in allocation.
“As a club, we want as many supporters (home and away) to attend as possible. However, with such short notice, and well outside of the regulations, this request was not possible to accommodate.
“In an attempt to find an amicable resolution, members of the Rovers and MK staff were joined on a call by the team at the EFL late this afternoon.
“In this meeting, we offered to make amendments to our segregation boundaries within the stadium to accommodate the additional walk-up; sadly, this was not deemed acceptable by our visitors.
“Over the course of this season so far, Rovers have operated at over 90% capacity for home fixtures. The club, therefore, has to manage our ticketing allocations carefully. We have worked hard to liaise with visiting clubs to ensure our stadium is used as efficiently as possibly and, to date, have had no other issues this season.
“Regrettably, the ticketing update released by MK has led to their supporters feeling aggrieved. However, had their own club acted earlier and in line with the guidelines, as is the norm for other clubs visiting The Mem, this situation would have never arisen.
“The club will not be commenting any further on this issue. #BristolRovers.

MK Dons added: “A reminder there will be NO on-the-day sales for away supporters at the Memorial Stadium today ❌”
Bristol Rovers added before kick off: “ℹ️ IMPORTANT: The kick-off time for today’s match has been delayed to allow ALL of the MK Dons fans in to the… oh no, hang on. 3pm kick-off as normal. 👍”

Then after MK Dons started scoring goals, the Buckinghamshire outfit couldn’t help but get the final say to put this spat if you like to bed.
They said: “Should have probably delayed kick-off, lads. 👋👋👋”
Before ending: “We don’t need an eight-tweet thread or an EFL rulebook to tell you that is THREE POINTS 😉”
