Millwall try to attack Sunderland fans with one man ‘knocked out’; while Alex Pritchard was abused upon arrival at The Den pre-match.

New footage shows the moment wannabe hooligans attempted to cause chaos on Saturday afternoon – captured on camera around 1pm near a pub in London Bridge.

According to eyewitnesses, the pub, called the Mudlark at Montague Close, with a group of yobs walking down the street as a man in a red-and white scarf appeared and shouted at them.

Witnesses claimed that the group, who sang a number of chants thought to be associated to Millwall, turned back from the tunnel and began heading back to the bar.

As the thugs tried to gain entry into the pub, the men frightened shocked onlookers.

According to eyewitnesses, they escalated their behaviour by throwing bottles and trying knock the doors of the pub down.

As a brawl erupts, more and more people are seen leaving the pub, before men start grabbing and throwing punches.

The a man walks out of the pub and picks up a pole made of metal and started waving it at the Millwall supporters.

The man can be seen reaching for the pole and waving it at the thugs as they return to the tunnel.

One male calms himself enough to let him go with his weapon.

A couple of young men can be seen arguing near the tunnel’s entrance at the end. One man falls over.

The thugs then attack him, launching kicks at his face. An eyewitness claims that he was “knocked out” by them.

Cops reported that one man was taken to hospital as a result, while another was taken into custody for “suspicion or violent disorder”.

An eyewitness told The Sun of the “horrifying” scenes that took place in broad daylight.

She said: “We were walking over London Bridge when we heard shouting and football chanting which sounded like Millwall chants.

“We stuck our heads over the side of the bridge and the Millwall fans had seemed to go back into the tunnel.

“A man came out of the pub wearing red and white scarf, I think he’s a Sunderland supporter, and started shouting at them – all of the Millwall fans turned back walking towards him.”

“A bouncer or staff member told the Sunderland fan to get back in pub but the Millwall fans started throwing bottles and trying to kick down the door of the pub to get inside.

“They were hanging outside the pub for a little bit but a fight broke out as it escalated as more and more people came out.

“One guy had the pole used to separate the queues and came out of the pub and was swinging it. He tried to start chase guys back down tunnel with bollard backed up by other people from the pub.”

She added: “One guy started chasing Millwall fans who fell over they started kicking him and kicking him in head and it looked like he was knocked out – it was chaos.

“There were a lot of tourists walking along the bridge who were shocked and horrified to see the violence out in the open.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 14:34hrs on Saturday, 4 February, to reports of a group of people fighting outside a pub in Montague Close, SE1.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. One man was taken to hospital with an injury to his face. His condition is not life-threatening.

“Another man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3397/04Feb. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. ”

Meanwhile, another video uploaded online shows abuse being shouted at, with Sunderland’s Alex Pritchard he main target. Take a look at the video below…

The Championship game itself saw Jake Cooper put the Lions ahead, but Dennis Cirkin earned a late point for the Black Cats.

Millwall’s Gary Rowett:

“I thought it was an incredible atmosphere, that’s the one thing you notice. Our fans, when they pack this out, this stadium has a very unique atmosphere, so I thought that really helped the game. They’ve had one shot on target with the goal and we’ve had like 15 shots and lots and lots of moments were very contentious.

“In my opinion, and I’ve watched them back so I’m not just sat here bleating about it as a manager that hasn’t won the game. I thought we should have had a penalty first half, Tom Bradshaw gets the other side of a full-back, the full-back pulls him then pushes him in the back. The referees need to be sure and he just said: ‘I didn’t feel there was quite enough contact to be a penalty.”

Sunderland’s Tony Mowbray:

“Dennis is concussed, he was out cold on the pitch for a while. He’s now awake, he’s not necessarily sure whether he’s scored or not. We’ve been telling him he has. Dennis is a brave lion – it’s not the first time he’s scored a headed goal for us in a tight congested six-yard box this year, so we’re delighted to take the point.

“I think it’s really difficult to come and play here, especially with the environment that was created today. I’ve been to Millwall a lot over the years and I’ve never seen it full. There’s usually still a fantastic atmosphere with what the fans create, but it was a full stadium today. We were a bit frustrated we couldn’t get our game going, but we have to respect the opposition and how they play.”
