A female Bristol City fan has been left in a horrifying ordeal experienced at Ashton Gate which left her in A&E over the weekend.
Karen Osment took to social media to explain what exactly happened and how just attending the Championship opener against Blackpool ended with her rushed to hospital.
Now the club have been notified with calls from the club’s fanbase made, urging to get the CCTV looked at after she collapsed on the ground. See what she wrote via Facebook below…
Karen Osment wrote on social media: “I went back to my beloved Ashton Gate for the first time in 17 months. What should have been an amazing day turned out to be horrendous.
“Some vile man spiked my drink. I ended up passed out in the toilets, I couldn’t walk and had horrendous kidney pains.
“Luckily the kindest soul found me collapsed outside the ground and walked me to Rob who came to pick me up.
“I’m normally so careful but this happened in the blink of an eye.
“I’m currently sat in a and e having my blood samples checked whilst in absolute agony.
“The police are also involved. I’ll be ever grateful to the lovely man who did help and looked after me. I’ve made my post public as I wish I could trace him to say my heartfelt thanks Bristol City FC.”

Twitter users gave their reaction to the Bristol City fan left in a horrifying ordeal at Ashton Gate which left her in A&E…
@dbrand003: Who spikes someone’s drink at a football match
@Ben_Hazel96: Who spikes someone’s drink anywhere?
@00BAR2: Wtf 😱
@WayneNobile: Disgusting
@RealBristolBoy: Contact the club for CCTV & involve the police
@OX14Gashead: Actually sickening. The fact someone had the mindset of going to football and thinking this is alright it boggles the mind
@ccama15: This is horrifying. What the fuck is wrong with some people 🤬
@Chrissy___Hall: So scary how this can happen in the concourse and how someone would do that to a fellow City fan. Hope they find the tosser that did that
@PillboxPete: This is so disturbing, How a so called City Fan do this to a fellow City supporter is beyond me, Surely CCTV footage will help bring the perpetrator to justice.
@RonTrinder: Absolutely dreadful, I hope the culprit is found. But we don’t know the culprit is a man, probably is but not definitely. Best wishes Karen.
@bcfc_beth: This is disgusting 😡 hope the culprit is caught!
@cw_gas76: This is awful, Tom. Good to raise awareness of this and hope this coward is caught and banned for life. Sadly every club has its band of idiots but not heard of this at a game before.
@kezsajm: What sort of person have you got to be to not only spike someones drink, but to do it somewhere like a football game?
@bignorm1992: @BristolCity I’m ashamed a fellow fan would act like this!
@Alfiebiggs: Christ.
@Ryann_BRFC_95: That is really awful, glad that she’s recovering though and that someone came to her aid. It’s bad enough when you hear about how people have their drinks spiked in nightclubs and pubs/bars but to have it happen at your own football club just makes it feel even more targeted.
@BcfcNoah: Stay safe peoples 🙏🏻
@_WezXL_: Guys, if you think this sort of thing is acceptable please do us all a favour and stay the fuck away from football #HerGameToo
@ChlxeThomson: NO WOMEN SHOULD GO TO A FOOTBALL MATCH & HAVE THEIR DRINK SPIKED, EVER
@RowenaWilliams1: Drinks being spiked at a football game 😡. Hopefully some CCTV will find the culprit and make Ashton gate a safer place again.
@Nintendoubt815: Fucking sickening this
MATCH REPORT:
Shayne Lavery hit a last-gasp equaliser which earned newly-promoted Blackpool a 1-1 draw with Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.
The game was deep into stoppage time when Josh Bowler crossed a low effort from the left for fellow substitute Lavery who put the ball into the net from close range.
The Robins had looked set for their first home win since January when Chris Martin powerfully headed home Andy King’s 44th-minute cross from the right.
Though Lavery’s strike kept Nigel Pearson waiting for his first victory at home and sent travelling fans behind the goal into wild scenes of celebration.
Bristol City’s Nigel Pearson: “Everything was pretty positive up to that last moment when we could have done a lot more to prevent the goal. I feel like everyone associated with the club probably feels. It was a game we should have won and to concede so close to the end was very disappointing.
“There was a lot we might have done to prevent the goal. But I am not going to spend a lot of time picking the bones out of it. The overall performance was good, but it was a reminder of what football can do to you at times.”
Blackpool’s Neil Critchley: “It feels like a win and to see our supporters celebrating at the end was very humbling. From the start of my time in charge, I wanted the team to reflect the people who live in our area. That meant fighting to the last. We did that today and after an improved second-half performance we got our reward.
“Bristol got on top of us in the first half and we lacked a bit of confidence and belief in ourselves. In the end, we were a match for them, which is very encouraging. They will expect to do well this season. We learned what we knew already, that the Championship is a very tough league. It may only be a point, but to get it like that will give everyone a lift.”
