Brighton fans decided to hilariously troll Man Utd with a number of savage chants as Erik Ten Hag’s side fall to a 2-1 defeat.
Pascal Gross was the hero for the Seagulls, latching onto a ball across the box from former Red Devil Danny Welbeck to open the scoring 30 minutes in.
After madly celebrating the goal, the delighted visiting fans then turned their focus on ripping into Manchester United. They started with a chant of “You’re going down the Palace”.
They then switched focus to new boss ten Hag by singing “You’re getting sacked in the morning” with the cheeky chants sounding more like a potential reality than a harsh joke when Gross doubled Brighton’s lead before half time.

32% of Pascal Gross’ Premier League goals have been against Man Utd (6 of 19) – Gross has scored once every 112 minutes against Man Utd and once every 809 minutes against other Premier league opponents.
United were totally outplayed in that opening period by Graham Potter’s team, who hit them for four at the Amex Stadium in May on their way to a ninth-placed finish, their highest in the top flight.
Not even the second-half appearance of Cristiano Ronaldo could deny Brighton, although they did threaten a comeback when a scramble inside the visitors box ended with Alexis Mac Allister turning the ball into his own net after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez had touched it into his path under pressure from Harry Maguire.
On the 59th minute, Brighton tweeted: “Just like Brighton, your city is blue” a chant coming from the away end.

Brighton had to withstand some heavy pressure but managed to hold firm and secure a first win at Old Trafford.
In nine previous league visits, Brighton had managed only one draw, so this victory was historic.
For ten Hag, it meant enduring a similar start as Red Devils manager as fellow Dutchman Louis van Gaal, who lost his first game by the same score, also at home, to Swansea in 2014.
It’s messy but it counts – Man Utd pull one back! 🔴

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire speaking to Sky Sports: “We went into the game positive, we had a good pre-season and it was the worst possible start to be 2-0 down at half-time at Old Trafford. We got a goal back but we huffed and puffed a bit and it’s a bad start for us.
“We started pretty well and on the front foot and as a team we had control. Then we conceded the first goal and that knocked us badly. We need to look at not letting that first goal set us back as much as it did. It was a nightmare start to be 2-0 down at half-time.
“We spoke about getting the next goal [at half-time]. I think in the second half you saw good parts to our game but overall we didn’t do enough. We had a lot of pressure and a lot of ball but we need to be a bit more creative and we need to improve on that
“It’s something we need to address or it’ll keep happening. The first goal felt like a big blow to all 11 of our players.
“It’s great to have Lisandro Martinez at the club. We have competition for places at centre-back. We’ve not played much together and in that first period we weren’t on the same wavelength. Centre-back partnerships are built over time and we will get a lot better and keep clean sheets.
“Everyone knew the task. We had a bad season last season. We’ve got a new manager trying to put his philosophy on the team but when we don’t get it right we look far too open.”

Brighton goalscorer Pascal Gross: “We can’t ask for much more. Three points away from home against Manchester United. It’s a big win for us today.
“I would love to score more goals against other teams, but always against Man Utd. I don’t know why!
“We played really well. the game plan was really good and we stuck to it. We had our chances and were clinical in front of goal.”
Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: “It was a great start to the season, three points at Old Trafford. It’s a very difficult place to come but I thought the group were tremendous today and to come away with three points, we’re all delighted.
“We were brilliant in the first half and caused them so many problems and it’s inevitable that United are going to come back with a response in the second half.
“Obviously we were disappointed to concede from a corner but after that, we know the quality of players they have and it’s going to be difficult. But we saw the game out and everyone is over the moon.
“We beat United a few months ago but as a team we’re growing and developing, there is a lot of experience and we showed maturity in the game today. We go into games and we think we can get the three points everywhere we go and every game we’re looking to win.
“We’re looking to develop as a club. We’re going to grow and we’re only going to get better.
“Pre-season went well, I had a full pre-season which I haven’t had for a few years. I feel good. I’m ready to go again.”
