Brief flare up as England fans taunt Germans for being knocked out of Euros by Spain

There was a brief flare up as England fans cheeky took to taunt Germans for being knocked out of this year’s Euros by Spain.

The first half was a slight let down, although there had been some feistiness, and thankfully the game soon improved after the break.

Real Sociedad forward Mikel Merino – who was at Newcastle for the 2017-18 season – netted with a thumping header to eliminate Germany deep into extra-time after Spain saw Florian Wirtz’s 89th minute equaliser in off the post cancel out Dani Olmo’s opener six minutes into the second half.

The result means that Spain advance through to the semi finals, and they will face either France or Portugal for a place in the final.

The result although marked an end to the playing career of Toni Kroos, with the 34-year-old having saying this tournament would be his last as he retires from football.

In the streets of Germany, England took to wind up supporters of the host nation in the area of Alstadt, although it did for a few second get slightly out of hand with fists and kicks flying, as can be seen in this video below…

One witness said, per the Daily Mail: “The England fans were taunting the Germans about them losing to Spain and then they started singing songs like ‘have you ever seen the Germans win a war?’

“There were about 20 English men who got involved in confronting a group of Germans and then a couple got involved in a punch up.”

While the scuffles may have been short, the report adds that a number of England fans then begun to sing again, this time ‘La Viva Espanol’, with police soon swooping in to prevent trouble from further escalating having already become aware of glasses allegedly being chucked and beers allegedly thrown at the Germans.

The Daily Mail continued to say that several fights took place on the day, while also claiming to have seen England fans inhaling from black balloons, with the centre of Alstadt having a tense feel to it with riot police on stand by.
