Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen responds after being asked if he smokes weed

Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen responds after being asked if he smokes weed when being quizzed in an interview with a podcast host.

The 19 year old defender recently addressed rumours about his appearance, where he was questioned about appearing “pretty medicated.”

Huijsen, who is joined from Juventus, firmly denied smoking cannabis, clarifying the speculation that arose during the interview.

He appeared on a podcast with football influencer Papa Pincus saying: ‘It really seems to me like you are pretty medicated on weed. Do you smoke weed?’

Huijsen replied: ‘Basically, for everyone watching, I have sleepy eyes. I have it from my mum because my mum has sleepy eyes.

‘I’m not high. I’m sorry, I’m not high. We’re not allowed to take weed, it’s doping control. I’m not high. It’s how I was born. I can’t do anything about it.’

@PapaPincus tweeted in response to this video: “Just an FYI for those allergic to light-hearted banter.

“We ran through all the questions beforehand, he loved this one.

“Sorry we didn’t ask him who has the AUX in the changing room or who’s the worst dressed teammate.

“He clearly saw the funny side, maybe you should too!”

Papa Pincus then spoke about the photograph of Huijsen holding up his Player of the Match award after he helped the Cherries to a 3-0 win over Man Utd back in December.

In the game, he netted the opener at Old Trafford before Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo also got on the scoresheet midway through the second half to defeat the Red Devils.

In the photograph, Huijsen’s right eye looks extremely red and bloodshot, with that also a symptom of smoking weed.

He cleared that up too by saying: ‘I got a ball in my eye. Someone shot and it went right in my eye. So I was even worse.’

The defender also explained why he appeared with red eyes during a photograph in December

Huijsen spoke on childhood. Papa Pincus said: When kids, for example, come up to you and then you can just see the excitement in their eyes, I don’t know if you’re if you’ve been in the game long enough to really acknowledge that, but do you understand how privileged you are to make someone’s day so much better by literally just being you? That’s a very rare role to be in. Like, just doing you.

Huijsen: I used to be that kid, you know? Like, I remember I used to go I was I’m still a Malaga fan and I was crazy Malaga fan. Like, my walls were painted white and blue in my house and stuff. I had, like, Malaga pillows. I was obsessed. And, I used to go, like, to their training camp, the trainings. Not even to not even to, like, friendlies, like, training camp trainings. I think that’s how that’s how crazy I am.

It’s all without question. And I’d make my dad, like, drive, like, half an hour to to bring me to these trainings.

Dean Huijsen talked about how important Jose Mourinho was on the trajectory of his career. Papa Pincus said: Jose Mourinho put a lot of belief in you, someone that seems like a really, really, really good guy. How important was Jose on the trajectory of your career? Do you have a big thank you to Jose?

Huijsen: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I should always be grateful to him. You know? I think he saw my potential, and he believed in me. I think he’s one of the best trainers of all time, maybe. And, you know, the trophies show it. Everything shows it. I can only just be grateful to him, to be honest.

Papa Pincus: You must have been I mean, you’re 19. When Mourinho joined United, which is pretty recent, you would have been 11. You would have been 11 years old. So 11 so that and that was a while.

Huijsen: I was saying 14.

And that was fairly recent. So getting a call from Jozak, how how does it feel to to know that you’re on someone’s radar that you watched growing up and loved growing up?

Huijsen: Yeah. I mean, it’s crazy. To be honest, I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s just kinda like starstruck for someone that big to want to have anything to do with you. You know? It’s a great feeling to be honest.

Twitter users reacted as Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen responds after being asked if he smokes weed…

@theWycombeWay: I’d be very fucking surprised if Bournemouth ever let you near any of their players ever again. What a weird thing to ask a professional footballer during an interview

@beckerlfc26: Thought this guy was Spanish 🤣

@Liam_AFCB: He will be filing that restraining order soon, what a strange question

@connoronthisapp: what a weird thing to ask

@Dannymole17: He’s gunna have to get a restraining order soon

@THFCLamine: First of all, what a strange thing to ask. Second of all, did NOT expect him to sound like that, thought he was Spanish? Was he raised in England or something 😭

@valkr8s: everyone getting emotional in the replies when the kid himself found the question funny enough to even repost it on his story. guys need to lighten up a bit

@sorinetheturtle: what was funny about it though? genuinely

@_liama_: I’m far from this blokes biggest fan, but christ some of these comments need to grow a pair

@OwenReeman3:
‘Alright we’ve got a premier league footballer on the podcast, one of the best young players in the league! Should we ask about his career, aspirations or his development?’
‘Do you smoke weed?’

@theafcbfanpage: Deano please for the love of God stay away from these guys

@SamDown93: What an extremely crass, silly and borderline unkind question. Huijsen handles it with remarkable grace, really. He’d have been quite in his rights to tell them where to go.

@THFCHarvey18: Just me who thinks this is disrespectful as fuck?

@OllieAFCB: Yes let me ask a stupid question which I already know the answer to, taking the piss out of a 19 year olds looks, that’ll make for a good podcast episode… #afcb

@S_AVFC41: i’m not the only one who finds this very weird, asking a professional footballer who’s got many sponsors if he does w*ed
