Bournemouth’s search for first win goes on as they concede late on for a third game in a row and Newcastle come from two goals to draw 2-2.

Yet more frustration for the Cherries, with is now 7 points dropped from a winning position after the 80th minute.

James Tavernier hit the opener after just 9 minutes, before getting a deflected second, Malick Thiaw with an own goal on 35 minutes.

But Newcastle fought back, Harvey Barnes with a stunner from absolutely nowhere to pull one back just before half time, then Jacob Ramsey with an equaliser in the 88th minute.

Jacob Ramsey said to TNT Sports: “Our first three games have been really good. We were unlucky not to win against Liverpool, a great result against Spurs and a good performance today.

“In the first half, we were a little bit slow, didn’t keep the ball, but in the second half the lads did well.

“At half-time, the manager said we weren’t winning enough duels. When I came on, I played a bit deeper today, so it was a big thing.

“Since the manager came in, all the attacking players have had meetings with him before the game. I remember being told to keep the ball low, so that’s what I did.”

Bournemouth’s Marco Rose said to TNT Sports: “I’ve had it two times already in the last two games [conceding late]. It is what it is. I’m really happy with the confidence the lads brought onto the pitch today, especially in the first half. We were so good in the game, we had chances and we could have scored a third goal.

“Then, more or less, from out of nothing we conceded a nice goal from Newcastle and the game became open again in this stadium. We missed transition situations, lost possession, but still didn’t concede too many chances. In the end, it’s a draw and we have to deal with it.

“First of all, it’s good that we’re in situations to win games, but we have to talk about how we can finish games, and defend our goal like it’s the last game of our lives. If you concede two goals, you have to score three goals to win, which is pretty hard in the Premier League.”

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle to TNT Sports: “Mixed feelings.

“Happy for that spirit, that belief the lads were showing until the end together with the crowd. I felt the energy and felt if we had five or 10 minutes more we could win this game.

“But the first half was not expected. This is something we need to improve. This is part of the journey.

“We knew Bournemouth would come with everything, they always show great intensity and if you do not compete with that you get problems.

“We struggled with that in the first half but the lads showed the right reaction.”

@keithcb49: #afcb I’m just hoping Lincoln score the first goal on Tuesday. We did well today with a great opening half hour or so. We’re a good team. MoM was between Truffles and Scott, but everyone put in a shift. We’ll get that win soon. Now I can enjoy the weekend. Come on Boscombe! I must apologise. I clearly watched a different game. Apparently we should have won 4-0; the defence let us down; the subs were too late and the set piece coach has to go. I’m sorry for not including any of that. I need to up my game, as does the manager. Come on Boscombe!
