Bolton and Salford eyeing ambitious move for ex-Wolves, Norwich and Millwall player

Bolton Wanderers and Salford City are reportedly eyeing ambitious move for an ex-Wolves, Norwich City and Millwall player.

That man is 28 year old Ben Marshall who is an experienced wide man and a current free agent after leaving the Canaries back in July.

He was a youth player at Manchester United and Crewe Alexandra before he started his senior career at Stoke City and then went on to play on loan for Northampton, Cheltenham, Carlisle (won EFL Trophy with in 2011) and Sheffield Wednesday.

Leicester then became his new permanent club, and he scored 7 in 56 games.

Another year, another club and this time it was Blackburn Rovers who came calling. This is where he had a more successful time at, though still scored just 11 in 126 matches.

Wolves came in for him in 2017, he scored twice in 22 appearances and left the following year, having a loan spell with Millwall in that time.

Norwich bought him, he made six appearances and headed back to Millwall where he scored 1 goal in 16 matches or you could say 4 goals in 24 matches in both loan spells.

Now he could be on the cards at League One side Bolton Wanderers or even League Two Salford.

Trotters boss Keith Hill told The Bolton News: “We’re trying to encourage him to come into training with us. I have spoken to his representatives and we’d like the opportunity to have a look at him, and he can have a look at us.

“He is currently without a club and he’s a very good player.

“With due respect we think he could benefit from taking a look at our club as much as we want to take a look at him.”

Alan Nixon revealed today: “Bolton. Ben Marshall in to train. May/may not lead to a contract offer.”

After finding out that Bolton and Salford were looking at Ben Marshall, fans took to suggest ‘how the might have fallen’ – see more of those tweets on the next page.
