Billy Sharp lays into Wrexham in a must see post-match interview after Sheffield United win their FA Cup Fourth Round replay on Tuesday.
Sharp and teammate Sander Berge netted injury-time goals as Sheffield United ended National League Wrexham’s FA Cup run in a fourth-round replay after drawing 3-3 a few weeks ago.
Anel Ahmedhodzic put the hosts in front early in the second half, only for Paul Mullin to smash his penalty to put Wrexham level and caused stunning scenes from the away end.
Mullin stepped up for a second spot-kick, and this was saved by Adam Davies before Sharp scored deep in stoppage time.
Berge then grabbed United’s third on the counter to set up a fifth-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp is not happy, despite helping his side into the fifth round.
Speaking to ITV4, he said: “A great cup tie over two games. They played excellent.
“I am glad we’ve beaten them. They are doing well in their league and we are doing well in ours but I wasn’t happy with a few of their players there.”
What were you not happy with? “The way they’ve been as a club before the game, eyeing up Spurs before the game. They had not even beaten us.
“They thought we would just roll over when they got back in it and I think the referee was helping them as well, I don’t think he gave me one foul all night.”
🗣 “I think they’ve been disrespectful with a few things before the game, thinking they were already through. I’m glad we’ve beaten them.”

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom, speaking to ITV4: “It was another good game. Right result in the end I thought we were good all game against a very good team but goals change games. We were not taking our chances but as soon as we did we put the game to bed.
“It made for a really good cup tie, entertaining game and both teams went for it. We were totally on top but gave them a penalty, I thought it was outside the box but one of those things.
“We were always going to go for it. I think neither of us wanted extra time.”
On facing Tottenham: “I don’t know what the date is. We have some big games before then and we will approach it whenever the game is.”

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, speaking to ITV4: “Immensely proud of the performance over the two games but tonight in particular, coming away to a Championship team is harder.
“Obviously we are disappointed we haven’t gone through but seeing how the Sheffield United players and staff celebrated at full time is a mark of how we pushed them.
“There are so many positives for us to take into the second half of the season.”
On Paul Mullin going off with an injury: “There is a lot at stake in the second part of the season. There was no way I was risking him.
“We are using the FA Cup run to enhance our promotion challenge. We wanted to put in a really good performance but also give players minutes to benefit us going forward, so I feel we came away with a lot of benefits.”
Strong response by Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson to BIlly Sharp’s attack on his club: “I was a bit disappointed with Billy to be honest – shouting down the tunnel. I think he was disrespectful. The message to Billy is: ‘You’re better than that. Our players are humble people.’”
I could not be more proud of those men than I am right now. They gave it absolutely everything. ❤️ @Wrexham_AFC @espn @ESPNFC

So proud of these boys. And the 4000 plus away supporters who gave it all. @Wrexham_AFC

Clinton Morrison on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Wrexham have been outstanding, they will get out of their league this year for sure and climb the leagues definitely.
“If Mullins scores that penalty, we’re talking about a different game but in the end Sheffield United showed their quality, why they are 2nd in the Championship.
“What an FA Cup tie, every one of those Wrexham players can be proud. I just feel sorry for the youngster at the back who made the mistake but they can all be proud of themselves.
“It’s been an exceptional night, brilliant cup tie.”
This is what fans said as Billy Sharp lays into Wrexham in a must see post-match interview after Sheffield United win the replay…
@Alicenufc9: Billy Sharp being rattled by a non league team is brilliant 🤣🤣
@jabriant16: Billy Sharp. That was an embarrassing interview. He’s been rattled by a National League club. @Wrexham_AFC did very well tonight and it needed to stoppage time goals to win it. Sharp needs sort himself out #wrexhamfc #SHUWRE #SheffieldUnited #FAcup
@GoTheRedmen: Billy Sharp was a bit of a turd there to be fair wasn’t he.
@Obi_T0m: @Wrexham_AFC is interesting. Fans from the clubs around them all basically glad they lost and want Notts county to win. Saying they are classless and bought the league. Others who watch Disney+ think they are great. Love Billy Sharp giving then some stick & seeing the reactions.
@newwales: What a great match, Wrexham played well shame they lost. But wow Billy Sharp was miserable and a sore Winner for some reason? Just sounded arrogant in a bad way. #WxmAFC #BillySharp
@icoates: He’s right… and I’m glad he’s said it!
@monolocoUK: Cringeworthy Embarrassment of an interview . So a non league outfit dare to want to play Spurs at home. How dare they 😂
@DannyKirkles: Made himself look like a really nice bloke there.
@RWillows: Good on him for having the balls to call it as it is
@HatterSteely: Billy Sharp getting pelters cos he’s not like everyone rimming Reynolds and the other melt, Wrexham as a club are as distasteful as they come, nice one @SheffieldUnited Just need Notts County to do the same in the league
@AustinClarke8: I think Wrexham got into Billy’s head, it’s what teams do especially underdogs. Hence he didn’t give his best performance until he scored. You wouldn’t think his team had just one. Come on SUFC
@AdamDaviesss: Salty that a national league side give you a run for your money. Absolutely rattled 🥴🤣
@smokyblacon1: Always been the same thinking they are Billy big bollocks even when fan owned thought they were bigger than the league they haven’t got out of in 16 years.
@WeAllBlades: Well said Billy. Nice to see some honesty. I liked Wrexham but my interactions with them since we got drawn against them has been really intolerable…
@Stillmanator: ‘They’re doing well in their league’ is just lovely patter. 10/10 pass agg put down.
@Alex55CM_: They are small time Wrexham, they are allowed to dream of that spurs tie… can’t take that away from them, doesn’t mean they already think they’ve won 😂 ffs bitter when winning
@BridgetteG68: Well said Skip! 👏 ⚔️
@anthonyfdshaw: more of this sort of thing 👍. as a neutral even i was a bit sick of the Wrexham love in from the BBC in the first leg.
@tomd0312: Facts, glad someone’s finally said it
@FootyTonight22: Billy Sharp is bang on here. What Wrexham are doing is great, but lets not get it twisted, they’re a League 1 squad currently with a monumental wage difference to their competitors. Would be great to see a balanced coverage of the tie 🤔
@ScottWhatley82: Up the blades – Great to see a senior member of the squad say it how it is, rather than a coerced & scripted response. Wrexham did play well over the two games…& good luck to them on their promo, but the referee tonight was shocking and some of the Wrexham players were naughty
@kanegoswell: Fair play to Billy Sharp. Hopefully the media will get out of Wrexham’s arse now they’re out. Back to non-league you go.
@fearlessidzine: Billy Sharp rattled by little old Wrexham. Shit talking us in his interview. Great club Sheffield United but christ they’ve got some prima donas playing for them.
@ChancellorPalp_: Saying it exactly how it is: one game at a time mentality has beaten a team focussing on the next round before getting through the one they’re in. Hollywood money has been beaten by hard work, professionalism and better quality
@Tom_Challinor: If that doesn’t say “Wrexham got under our skin” then I don’t know what does.
@JLR192: Bless him, talks about an apperent lack of respect whilst showing absolutely none himself 😂
@andrewflan99: Bollocks to Roy Keane, Billy Sharp says it how it is.
@olloufcx: respect for billy sharp 📈 love to hear it
