Big update made on Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham while Hugo Lloris makes admission

A big update has been made on Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham while Hugo Lloris makes an admission on his mental health.

According to reports from Italy, the 53 year old Italian will leave Spurs at the end of the season as he has no desire to stay there any longer.

Spurs can extend his contract by one year. However, neither side seems keen to keep their relationship.

Gianluca Di Marzio, Sky Sport Italia journalist, said that Conte has decided to return to Italy. Tottenham do not intend to keep a manager who doesn’t want to be there.

Speaking on his L’Originale show, Di Marzio explained: ‘The news I can tell you with certainty is that Antonio Conte will leave Tottenham at the end of the season.

‘There was no spark, his contract is expiring and the club has not asked him for a renewal.

‘The club does not like the frequent jibes. Conte wants players to win, while the club prefers to trade, the feeling with the club has not clicked.

‘His family, among other things, has remained in Italy.’

Spurs’ season has been a mixed one. They are now just six points behind third-placed Newcastle. However, they have some concerns about Conte’s play style and performances.

The north Londoners have failed to beat any of their Premier League top four rivals this season and have also lost back-to-back matches against Arsenal, Man City and conceded six goals.

Spurs have been terrible at the back this season, often falling behind in matches. They have conceded 31 goals in only 20 matches, more than Everton.

With Conte looking to allegedly end his reign at Tottenham in the summer, there are now big question marks over whether he should even stay in his role.

Many supporters are calling for the return of former boss Mauricio Pochettino – who is currently out of work and available.

Spurs’ approach to the January transfer window is also under scrutiny.

Conte, for his part, is believed to be deeply affected by the deaths Gian Piero Ventrone, a long-serving trainer in fitness, and his former friends Sinisa Mihailovic and Gianluca Vialli.

He is also keen to spend more quality time with his daughter and wife, who have not moved to London but have remained in Italy.

Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris admitted that he struggled with the mental demands of the first half and the disappointment at Argentina’s World Cup final loss to France.

He knows that Tottenham aren’t good enough form-wise and points-wise this year. The Frenchman has learned from experience that the most important part is yet to come.

He knows that he and his Spurs friends must be prepared to do whatever it takes to make the season better.

Lloris said: “You have to take into consideration that it’s not a normal season.

“From the beginning of September, we played every three days until the the World Cup. Then when you finish the World Cup, for the players who reached the final, in one week’s time you have to go back to your club and again repeat every three or four days.

“So it’s very difficult mentally but also physically to stay at your best. But that’s the demands of the competition this year. Even if sometimes you can face difficulties, you won’t give up, you want to continue, you want to push and also you want to be ready for this important period of the season.

“We know that from March until June is the moment that you win or you lose places in the table. But we know also that now we have a deficit of points and we have to run after the others to get the top four.

“There are plenty of games. We have to stay confident and positive. We also really want to reach the level that we should. Hopefully it will come soon and maybe it will happen for the most important moment of the season. The most important thing is to prepare ourselves and deliver good performances.”

Spurs travel across London on Monday night to take on a Fulham side who, sitting sixth and just two points behind Lloris and Co, have been one of the surprise packages of the season.

Lloris added: “Especially after a defeat, it’s always better to play sooner. Fulham are a very strong opponent.

“Whoever you play, whoever you face, the demands are very high. You always need to be at your best because on a bad day you can lose against any team. The most important thing is to look forward, to keep your chin up and be ready to compete.”

Twitter users reacted as a big update is made on Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham while Hugo Lloris makes an admission on his mental health…

@dearman9: Regardless of why he’s leaving, the club need to sort this now as letting him carry on until the end of the season just won’t work. Come to an arrangement with Conte and get a new manager in now so he can plan and get the players in he wants while we have the time.

@Garshotspurs: I think we knew deep down he would be gone in the summer but not healthy for it to be public now with half the season still to play. I don’t see any value in letting it play out until May

@frasinho8814: As I said the other day, as soon as he said about missing his family at the Man City press conference that was it for me. Next 6 months is totally pointless. Get Poch in now and give him the keys. None of this head coach rubbish.

@Bazza7676: Why keep Conte til the end of the season or sign players to suit his system. No point going for Porro if the new manager favours a back 4.

@Doufsenior: Not surprised at all. No point buying players Conte wants this window. Bring someone in who can develop our younger players and buy 2 CB and a creative midfielder in the summer. Kane will leave so use Richie as a number nine and buy a back up for him.

@brianowen1979: He should go now then Chris while there is a season to save and a new manager has till the summer to sus out his current squad

@AndyhHiggins89: He was never going to stay there long term. There’s no positive future for spurs. Kane and son will leave they’ll never be able to replace them and without those two players they’re a mid table team.

@Zuratta: No point keeping him if this is true. Like I have now said multiple times and been abused for, if he is going at the end of the season, we are just wasting time. Get rid and start the build for the new coach. Horrible I know, but it’s logic if he is leaving anyway.

@yaboyjozza: What is the point anymore. The board don’t care. The players don’t care. And now the manager doesn’t care. Ultimately we’re paying the price. The board needs to go and we need to make that abundantly clear now. This is going to end badly.

@NathanW74941122: This is very easy for me to say as i dont live in London BUT why cant fans get together and boycott the next home game somehow? dont buy anything at the ground. dont enter for first 22mins? something that hits Levy in the pocket

@tommyblanche: Get rid now then

@mattyboy1984: Absolutely disgusting. No plan, no vision. Just silence from the board. Levy has tried every kind of manager and style and nothing works. If he’s not staying then he may as well go now.

@leannewthfc: He’s been hung out to dry and let down 😡 what have we achieved in 3 years? Fuck all!! And now we are losing Kane too. Terrible ownership that need to go!!!! #ENICOut

@LeeOatham: I’m not massively against Conte but why drag this out? Get someone new in now and give them the rest of the season to build ready for the start of next season, we’ll just have a slow start come next season because the manager won’t have enough time

@alexsmithmedia: You know what, get rid now. What’s the point of someone staying who doesn’t want to be here. His form is sackable, get the guy in who wants to be here. *Pochettino*

@Kernowspurs: If true, bin him off now. Give it to Mason for the rest of the season. At least it might bring back a little positivity.

@KiingJake_: Get a young manager who wants to instil good football & build the next generation. The club have made it clear that they won’t back proven winners so what’s the point of the same cycle every 1.5 years?

@CBarkworth: Absolute joke of a club we are.. ENIC and levy out

@gazee83: Seen this coming, why wait then, if he doesn’t want to stay let’s move on now why there are some top mangers available. Plus one week and 2 days left of the window

@CallumChadwick_: Why waste five months of a season waiting for a disinterested coach to leave? Spurs aren’t going to spend as much as their rivals. The new manager isn’t going to have a blank chequebook in the summer. Change it now and start the process.

@glennebrey: If this is true, he should go now. Otherwise it’s a complete waste of everyones time
