The BBC will broadcast one game from every round of this season’s FA Cup qualifying, the latest to be selected is this weekend’s match between Thatcham Town and Salisbury.
It will be the third match from the tournament they will have shown this season after picking Punjab United vs Broadbridge Heath (0-1) and Heather St John’s vs Worcester City (1-0).

Thatcham Town currently played their football in the Southern League Division One South where they sit 2nd in the table. They beat Andover New Street 7-1 in the FA Cup Preliminary Round.
Their opponents for the next round, Salisbury, come from a tier above them in the Southern League Premier Division in 6th. They enter this the First Qualifying Round and didn’t have to play in the Preliminary stage.
The match takes place on 7 September (12:30 BST) and will be streamed on the BBC Sport website, app and iPlayer.
Those who progress will receive £4,500 and the losers pick up £1,500.
Salisbury manager Steve Claridge commented: “It’s good that this coverage goes from start to finish of the competition all the way up to the Final.
“At this stage it gives teams at our level a chance to showcase themselves. It should be a good game as I know Thatcham to be a good side, so hopefully the coverage will be a good advert for the Non League game.”
Thatcham chairman Dave Melin wrote on Twitter: “Looking forward to welcoming @SalisburyFC and @BBCSport to the @Stacatruc Stadium a week Saturday. Let’s fill the ground and showcase our great club.”
Since the news of the selected FA Cup tie was made by the BBC, there was plenty reaction, some loving the choice of game, others were not so keen – take a look at those tweets on the next page.
