Barrow onto fifth manager of the season with Dino Maamria sacked after 6 games in charge

Barrow are onto their fifth manager (including interims) of the season, with Dino Maamria sacked after 6 games in charge.

Maamria has departed from the club, having just won once, leaving them 22nd in League Two with 28 points from 35 games played, level on points with 23 place Newport who have played a game more, Harrogate are 24th with 27 points also having played a game more.

Barrow have also announced that Sam Foley will be interim head coach will be supported Simon Ireland and David Worrall untold the end of the season.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Barrow AFC can confirm Dino Maamria has left the club today. We would like to thank Dino for his efforts and wish him well for the future.

Sam Foley, supported by Simon Ireland and David Worrall, will take the team until the end of the season. We recognise that this has been a very disappointing season with far too much managerial change. As the Board of Directors, we understand that the buck stops with us. We believe this change gives us the best chance of remaining in the football league.

The Q&A event in the Cross Bar will go ahead as planned on Friday evening and members of the Board will be there to answer questions directly.

Dino Maamria said after defeat to Bristol Rovers: “Sometimes I want to boo the players as well.

“I understand their frustration. I think we all know the problems. It is my job to fix them.

“I have got to find a way to put a team out there to represent the town of Barrow. The first rule as a team is you have to compete and we didn’t do that in the first half.

“That performance hurt me a lot and I hope it hurt the players as much as it does me. Bristol Rovers deserve the win. They were better than us.

“We didn’t start well and never got going. I was actually pleased to be only one down at half-time.

“The second goal was a sucker punch. But the boys who finished the game, credit to them, we looked like a team on the front foot.”

This is the social media reaction as Barrow appoint fourth manager of the season with Dino Maamria sacked after 6 games and 28 days in charge…

@mcguirk_steven: 4 managers in 70 days 🤣🤣🤣 absolute farce

@JoshYoungFarmer: So you’ve got 11 games left, question is, which manager is gunna get 5 games and which one is going to get 6 games? 🤣🤣🤣

@LewisJamesHaigh: God help you all at the Q&A, you’re going to fucking need it you fucking clowns.

@Lukejst: More managers than home wins this season, what a fucking circus 😂😂😂

@StarWarsNerd73: Not good enough. If you haven’t realised already, no manager on earth will save this group of players. Wholesale changes from top to bottom in the club are required. We are an embarrassment, and there’s only one reason why…

@StuartAkister: Dino sacked for speaking out last night and saying the lack of full backs in our squad is a shambles; I’m expecting a banning order in the post tomorrow (🤞) if we can’t point that out!

@c_f_2023: GET THE Q&A STREAMED!! not everyone can go and deserve to know what the fuck is going on!! do the right thing

@Adam_2198: An absolute farce of a football club, utter utter embarrassment

@mattselliott: Football is seriously broken. 40 days for Gallagher and even less for Maamria. Joke.

@AndrewSteel88: ‘We believe shit-canning a manager well versed in relegation battles after a handful of games and replacing him with a player with no managerial experience is our best chance of staying in the league.’ Incredible logic. Bravo.

@McmenemyAl16026: Is the Q&A being live streamed for those unable to be there in person?

@james_flynn:
Since promotion to League 2, the club have had in the dugout:
Dunn
Kelly (interim)
Jolley
Kelly (interim)
Cooper
Brown
Wild
Clemence
Whing
Gallagher
McDonald (interim)
Maamria
Foley
That’s a ridiculous turnover and genuinely up there with Watford.

@BenKnapmanEFL:
Managers that have taken barrow this season : 5
Home wins : 3
Wins since Sep 27: 4
Horrid

@nigewalker1: Unbelievable some of the decisions made this season, there’s something sadly wrong from top to bottom, we’re a laughing stock ! #WeAreBarrow

@CM01__: Friday night will let us see if the board are cowards like the playing squad, hell of a lot to answer for
