Aston Villa and Charlton player investigated by police after an altercation

Aston Villa and Charlton player investigated by police after altercation with a member of the public, according to reports issued on Monday.

Officers were called after an incident in Raddel Lane near Warrington on Wednesday (April 1) in which a verbal altercation involved the Aston Villa and Charlton player and a male named Rob Bryan.

The incident is said to have been in relation to ongoing discussions regarding a property Andre Green had been renting from Rob Bryan – owner of property company RB Residences – during his spell at Preston, who he joined from Villa in August 2019 on a season-long loan deal, before cutting it short to join the Addicks in January 2020 until the end of the season.

The winger has managed to score twice in his 14 appearances for this season so far, having more of a successful spell with Charlton than North End.

No arrests have taken place and enquiries are ongoing, but Aston Villa were informed of the incident last Wednesday by Mr Bryan.

Aston Villa declined to comment when approached and the Premier League club will not be taking any further action against Green as a result of the incident.

Despite the Aston Villa and Charlton player being investigated by police, it is understood he has not been in contact with Cheshire Police.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police told LancsLive: “At 7.30pm on Wednesday 1 April officers received a reports of an incident outside an address on Raddel Lane, Whitley.

“The caller reported that a named man had attended the address and verbally abused him.

“No arrests have taken place and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who believes that they witnessed the incident is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 672906.”
