Angry Arsenal fans have set up a breakaway club and hope to compete in the non league pyramid from the 2021/22 season.
Gunners supporters have lost their patience after holding many protests at the running of the club under the ownership of Stan Kroenke.
Now they hope to follow in the footsteps and success of AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester.
The new side, Dial Square FC, initially hoped to enter into the Combined Counties League for the 2020/21 season and eventually plan to build a stadium in club’s original home of Woolwich.
They have confirmed however that they will start in the Guildford and Woking Alliance League.

Arsenal fan Stuart Morgan, who is leading the initiative, told the Athletic: ““The club has lost its identity in so many different ways. This Arsenal team, the club, the set-up, the stadium, is nothing like it was in its heyday.
“It’s so commercialised, I sit in club level. It’s soulless, it’s lifeless, it’s not Arsenal Football Club.
“The reason I wanted to do this project is to go back to beginning, to try and get back to that original Arsenal.
“Our aim is to get to play league football at our own purpose-built stadium in Woolwich within 15-20 years.
“We want to be as close to the old arms factory as possible. This has been done before and we can do it again.”
However they did have a slight setback on their plans since then, but they do remain optimistic.
It has been confirmed that Dial Square F.C will have to start at a tier lower than the Combined Counties League next season.
The reasons given for the application refusal were that the club don’t, as yet, have ‘exceptional circumstances’ that can be presented by the league, to the F.A.
However, this view is likely to change if the club can show it has support from fans over the next 12 months.
Furthermore, the new ground improvements which are due to be installed to the new 3G pitch, won’t be ready in time.
The club would also like to confirm it will reapply again to the Combined Counties League, next season.

A statement from co-owner Stuart Morgan said: “It is obviously disappointing that we’ve missed out this time, but in hindsight, it’s probably not a bad thing. It gives us more time to build up our squad to the level we want, our playing budget and to also release our share scheme to fans, who want to own a part of the club.
We’ll be starting at a lower level than we would’ve wanted, but the plans stay exactly the same. We must continue to push for the support of the fans, because we were very buoyed by the fact that the League officials said if we can end up getting 2-300 fans at home games, then that will be a major boost to our application next season”
The club have other alternatives and shall now actively pursue them, in order to confirm which league the club will be in for 2020/21.
ABOUT THE NEW CLUB:
Dial Square references Arsenal’s original name when the club was founded by the Woolwich munitions workers in 1886.
Since angry Arsenal fans set up the breakaway club, has already revealed their new look in a retro looking club crest. They will also play in a burgundy shirt and white socks as their home kit, while yellow and dark blue will be the away strip.
Dial Square have agreed to ground share with Abbey Rangers, who are based in Surrey but hope to move to the original home in Woolwich.

“Building a club from nothing and doing it in a way that fans can be connected to means there’s a lot of work to be done on and off the pitch. I wanted to be a director to help that happen whilst ensuring fans remain at the forefront of the clubs thoughts. We want fans to support both the team and the club. Being a Gooner those things don’t always go hand in hand!
“Personally I can’t wait for the first game and seeing the Dial Square team take to the field.”

Is it April 1st already? Can’t help feeling this is a wind-up. That being said, maybe they should think of a catchier name…

The club was formed in woolwich it’s just fact it’s not even a debate.

Yes it is, it’s noticeable that he mentions AFC Wimbledon and FCUM but doesn’t say if the new team will be fan owned – a pretty huge thing to leave out as fan ownership is the entire ethos of those clubs.
This coupled to his links to Tamplin era Billericay is a big red flag

100%. I’m the 4th generation of Arsenal fan in my family and my little lass will hopefully be the 5th, but I support @ChipTownFC and go along to games when I can. If you’re sick of the Prem for whatever reason, there’s no need to reinvent grassroots football.

I’m sure disaffected West Ham fans will be considering doing something similar. Dial Square v Thames Ironworks one day? ?

They might get promoted from that league but once they meet the big fish of the Xtermin8 Rat Poison Football League Division One North they’ll hit the buffers.

Interesting to see angry Arsenal fans choose to set up a breakaway club in the hope to compete in non league pyramid and then rise up through the leagues like FC United of Manchester for example. Good luck to them
