Adam Forshaw’s celebration explained after ‘misunderstanding’ against his former club Plymouth

Adam Forshaw’s goal celebration has been explained after a ‘misunderstanding’ against his former club Plymouth.

Plymouth’s head coach, Miron Muslic, clarified that Forshaw’s celebration, which was in front of the Plymouth bench, was actually for his family seated in the stands behind the bench.

Muslic expressed that he held nothing but respect for Forshaw, acknowledging that if he had scored such a goal, he would celebrate with his family too.

He emphasised that after the game, Forshaw explained the situation, leading to a mutual understanding and respect between the two, quickly resolving any potential conflict.

The 33-year-old explained after the final whistle that he was actually running towards his family in the stand.

Adam Forshaw took to Instagram, saying: “No bad intentions with the celebration and sorry for how it came across. This is where the family were sat behind the benches.”

“I have nothing but respect for Forshaw because he explained that behind us was his family, his sons,” Muslic said, per Lancashire Telegraph.

“I respect that and if I had scored that beautiful goal, I would go to my family celebrating. He is a top professional and there is nothing but respect.

“He told me this and for me, the story was done in a millisecond. We hugged each other and moved on.”

“A deserved victory for Blackburn,” he added. “They started very strong the first 10, 15 minutes, wave after wave.

“We struggled to find a big goalscoring opportunity but after that 15 minutes, we found our structure, organisation and kept them out most of the time, also having some big transition opportunities.

“We had to finish it clean and stay calm until the end. A big one with Bundu but unfortunately there was a soft whistle.

“Big, big moments for us. We knew Blackburn would put pressure on us and dominate with the ball but, especially after the 15 minutes, we didn’t allow too much.

“It was the same second half until Forshaw opened up with a beautiful goal. We actually blocked the cross but then the bouncer into the top corner.

“From there, it was difficult for us to come back because Blackburn is a top six team, here at home, difficult for us.”

Blackburn interim boss David Lowe said: “It’s a really big three points and I’m really pleased for the lads.

“I thought we started really well in the first half and maybe should have scored.

“In the second half, we played some really exciting, fluid football which was easy on the eye and with a lot of pace and enthusiasm. We were the best team on the day.

“I’m really pleased for Adam. The timing was good and it set us up really nicely for the second half.

“He hasn’t scored many over the years, but he’s a fantastic professional to work with and brilliant for the young pros. He’s been a credit since he’s been here. He’s come in today and did a really good job,” he added, hailing the display from the former Plymouth midfielder.

“Tyrhys got a second goal, which was good, and I was really pleased with the performance overall.

“The lads really knuckled down and we certainly looked a danger on the break.

“I could feel it in the dressing room and in the warm-up that the lads were ready for it and really wanted the three points.”

Twitter users reacted with Adam Forshaw’s celebration explained after a ‘misunderstanding’ against his former club Plymouth…

@DrewSavageSport: At the end of the press conference Muslic said Adam Forshaw explained to him that the goal celebration was aimed at his family who were sitting behind the Argyle bench, and not at the Argyle bench themselves, and that he has nothing but respect for Forshaw as a good professional

@freddyharperdav: Fair enough, if I’d scored for the first time in 9 years I’d probably do the same

@CMpafc: Tbf the Blackburn fans said straight away it’s where his family sit. Still a shithouse though 😂

@jackolesliepafc: I honestly thought he was being a massive shithouse 😂 But fair enough. MM said the same also so makes sense

@EthanWilliamTa1: Shouldn’t have to explain himself tbf quite clear he wasn’t looking or pointing towards the Plymouth bench

@LUFCCarl: Making something out of nothing. 1st goal in 9 years and celebrates toward his family. Good on him.

@FozzJ94: His family are sat up there, nothing else in it

@roversrovers: In front of his family what’s wrong with that 😕

@Ryan1151: Turns out his family was sat behind the bench, your manager clarified that.

@brfc_roverss: context needed, his kids were sat just above the plymouth bench. let’s not jump to conclusions 👍🏻

@AndrewDavidBow2: Does anyone care enough about Adam Forshaw to be rattled by him celebrating like that? Look at the Plymouth bench, they didn’t move a muscle, they’re probably thinking “who’s this scouse cunt” cos nearly all of them weren’t even there when he played for them
