Championship Manager and Player of the Month nominations for October

The month of October has passed and now the English Football League have announced the managers and players nominated for the monthly awards.

Seven clubs have at least one member representing them across the two groups of Championship nominations, find out below the managers that have been listed below…

PEP CLOTET (Birmingham City)

EFL state: The Spaniard has quietly moved Birmingham into the top half of the Championship. Their three wins in October all came at St Andrew’s as Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Luton were beaten by a fusion of passion and organisation.

DANNY COWLEY (Huddersfield Town)

EFL state: Any doubts that he could gain the respect of highly paid Championship players and instil his methods were swept away as Huddersfield gained 11 points from five unbeaten games, re-connected with their fans and moved out of the bottom three.

THOMAS FRANK (Brentford)

EFL state: Made light of an awkward-looking fixture list and key long-term injuries to steer Brentford to 10 points from five games. His side ended the month in style, beating Millwall, Swansea and QPR and scoring three goals each time.

GRANT MCCANN (Hull City)

EFL state: Still working through the inconsistencies that come with a host of summer signings. Three wins from five games, including an impressive 2-1 victory at Nottingham Forest, suggest that McCann’s methods are starting to work.
