He is currently out of contract at Ayr at the end of next season, with the Rams and Bluebirds looking at playing him at first team level.
He signed a contract in January of last year that runs until the summer of 2020.
McCowan has helped guide his Scottish side to second in the table and now promotion contenders for the Scottish Premier League, somewhere they’ve not been since 1977–78.
He has found the net eight times in 17 matches in all competitions, as well as weighed in with seven assists.
The report from Football Insider reveals McCowan “can thrive in a number of roles, including both attacking flanks as well as the number 10 role behind the main centre-forward.”
