A 21 year old barman who wore a Man Utd shirt whilst working at Man City speaks out after being sacked from the role.
A fan who tweeted the photo, said – “Absolute joke @ManCity – letting one of the bar staff in block 315 wear a United shirt on Derby Day.”
It caught the attention of Man City, who said on their Fan Support page at 4:20pm on Sunday: “Thank you for making us aware of this. We can confirm that this individual has now been removed from their position.”

But now the barman has revealed himself to be Eric Anderson, a 21-year-old Manchester City hospitality worker. This was his first day of doing the job too.
Anderson, has spoke to Football Park, saying he didn’t intend to provoke fans, and wore the shirt as it was his only option.
He was unaware it was against the rules, and offered to remove it, but ended up being forced out instead.
The decision led to quite the reaction on social media, some calling it harsh, others believed he wore it to antagonise fans, such as the one who put up the gone viral photo.
Anderson, who also runs a YouTube channel called ‘Flushest’, denied intentional provocation, expressing disappointment at false media claims and stating he just wanted to do his job.
He said: “So many people are asking me, “so why did you wear it then?” And I always reply with the same answer: I didn’t wear the shirt to get a reaction out of anyone. I only wore it because it was the only thing I had on at the time.
“When I got to the stadium, nobody said I couldn’t wear the shirt, not even security. I thought it was going to be fine, until I was forced out. It was only then that I was told I wasn’t allowed to wear the shirt. I even told them that I would take the shirt off, but they didn’t give me an option to and they forced me out anyway.
“I just want people to know that the only thing I wanted was to do my job, make a living and go home.”
On the media: “They are saying that I wore the shirt on purpose to get a reaction out of people, and that I “purposely unzipped my jacket” when I hadn’t. All I was trying to do was get paid and go home at the end of the day.”
21-year-old Eric Anderson was sacked by Manchester City during Sunday’s Manchester Derby after a complaint regarding him wearing a Manchester United shirt whilst working at The Etihad went viral.
He has now spoken about the decision, telling us at Football Park that “the only… pic.twitter.com/WEPhSUbqOE

Here’s how fans reacted as the 21 year old barman who wore a Man Utd shirt whilst working at Man City speaks out after being sacked…
@joeproudley: First day at work at Man City and he wears a united shirt 😆
@RustyRover852: Firstly, it seems an odd choice of clothing. Secondly, if the lad was employed in hospitality by Man City, can the club not afford to supply corporate logo clothing to their staff? Thinking of polo shirts or similar.
@SmnLlyd5: United just need to give him a job at their place now. Either doing the same thing or managing the first team
@WHYLER_FOREST: It’s just a daft thing to do clearly hasn’t read the room not sure why he can be shocked about it
@Jords_dons: This isn’t a sackable offence lol
@YorkshireTomD: I’ve been served by a city fan at old Trafford before, I couldn’t care less who serves me when at a game. Getting the lad sacked over a shirt is ridiculous, the abuse he would have took while working even if it was banter should be enough.
@Finders73: Bravest United associate at the Emptyhad that day
@PaulRomainCPFC: Does no-one have a sense of humour anymore?
@Logan14Cameron: Fair play to city imo. Imagine a Mackem wearing one of their Shirts at St James’ for a derby ☠️
@HLTCO: Easiest PR win in the world for Manchester United to give him a job immediately.
@GeorgeStevens11: People saying it’d be a PR win for United to give him a job are forgetting something. Jim Ratcliffe is a man who would invent something somehow worse than a zero hour contract and pay him £1 an hour.
@cosmo_nffc: he can complain all he wants but how fucking stupid do you have to be to turn up to work at manchester city wearing a manchester united shirt 🤣🤣🤣🤣 on fucking derby day 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 idiot
@plobbeynffc: I mean I get supporting the other team but what are you thinking wearing your rivals shirt on derby day. It’s complete idiocy
@nathanswfc04_2: Why do it in the first place? He knew what he was doing, I don’t yet the outrage about him losing his job. Imagine a McDonald’s worker wearing a Burger King uniform? It’s no different
@CamNufc20: What does he expect 😂
@_chris96bcfc: No one comes out of this well, lad is a big fucking div, City probably didn’t need to sack him and Footballs fans love to be a grass
