2023/24 National League, North and South playoff finals confirmed

The 2023/24 National League, North and South playoff finals has been confirmed following this weekend’s semi final ties.

Saturday saw 2nd place sides Barnet, Scunthorpe and Chelmsford all LOSE their playoff semi finals. You can see a review on all of them by clicking HERE.

So all eyes were on what happened Sunday, with the National League North seeing Brackley Town advance through to the final after beating Chorley 1-0.

On the verge of half time, everyone inside St. James Park was left asking ‘how hasn’t that gone in?’ as an absolute scramble from O’Sullivan’s in-swinger somehow saw Brackley not go in front.

Just after the break, Newton was in on goal after Hall threaded him through, but Urwin was able to get out quickly to deny an all but certain goal.

Chorley continued to hold off Brackley’s threat going forward with Urwin again stopping the ball from going in.

But despite a valiant effort from Chorley, Brackley broke the deadlock on 78 minutes, Riccardo Calder making no mistake after an excellent initial save from Urwin.

Brackley held on to win 1-0, although it ended with some tempers boiling over.

The hosts will now take on Boston United in the final.

In the National League South, Worthing produced a 2-1 victory to knock Maidstone out and set up a meeting with Braintree in the playoff final.

Worthing’s Brad Dolaghan was bundled over in the box on 23 minutes, with Ollie Pearce scoring from the spot.

But right after that, Maidstone were level, Corne having two bites at the cherry, forcing Wright into two saves but Bentley was quick to put the ball past Wright on the third attempt.

It was in the 89th minute that Ollie Pearce caught the Stones on the counter attack seconds after Matt Rush saw his strike hit the crossbar, finishing in the bottom corner to make it 2-1 and send Worthing through.

And in the National League, it was Bromley who booked a place in the playoff final, where they will take on Solihull Moors.

It was on 30 minutes that Altrincham went ahead, Linney turning Conn-Clarke’s home from the six-yard box with Regan nearly making it 2-0 afterwards.

On the 50th minute, a Jude Arthurs corner was headed into the back of the net by Myles Weston to level the scoreline.

Five minutes after that, it was Idris Odutayo with the throw-in and Jude Arthurs with the header to make it 2-1, to Bromley.

And then Bromley went 3-1 up with an unbelievable curling effort right into the top corner from Myles Weston.

@DylanBaker1986: Come on you Rebels!!! Yessss

@G_Rebel49: What a day! Pearce is inevitable

@Hatman02131772: Congratulations to that set of Rebels from a fan of those other Rebels in Berkshire

@Brightonfan: One more from the National League, just one more game! Incredible!

@WhuJess: Just my hometown club making the play off final. To the national league, we’re on our way 👀

@djc_86: Form is so important coming into play offs and that’s 7 wins in a row for Worthing. Set up for a cracking final Worthing v Braintree Bank Holiday Monday.

@JustJoe_8: Super Ollie Pearce! Get in there you beauties! Enjoy another NLS season, Maidstone 👋

@LynnSCorbett: Good luck from a Woking supporter living in Selsey. My other half watches you when we haven’t got a game. You’d make a great away day next season!!

@JayHyde87: Congratulations from a York Fan

ON BROMLEY:

@laurencecapel: I was there when we secured promotion from VNS to NL. Now watching on from afar in Brisbane. Look how far little old Bromley have come. It’s been constant improvements on and off the pitch. This club is going places and we’re all in with you.

@ethansgrumps: Congratulations. Just wish we’d been able to put our full team out and give you an even better game. Good luck in the final

@beccytad: Yessssss! See you in Wembley 🎉🎉🎉

@Ollie_Jasper: 90 minutes away. Roll on Sunday 😎

@EthanLewendon: Watching the celebrations on the telly and I thought this proper football fans supporting their local…then I saw a kid in an Arsenal shirt. 😒 Very embarrassing.

@maxpalace03: Up the Bromley

@jonhotspur88: 👏🏻 at least someone got the job done today! Season tickets far cheaper and closer to home as well. 👀

ON BRACKLEY:

@akaDickTurvey: Fully deserved! Shame @chorleyfc were bad losers at the end. Yet another another so called ‘big club’ brought down to Earth. For the record, their population is 3 times ours. We like being small …don’t we? Seems to work 😉

@Benmoon1989: Congrats on reaching the final. Hopefully the ticket allocation considers how many Boston fans will buy a ticket in 24 hours notice. Or even leave one stand off sale until later in the week? Who ever sells out first gets the last area. 100% that 2000 pilgrims would come

@kiddyguest: Congratulations, finish the job next week. Your turn now!

@JSilloth: Chester fan. Congrats and good luck. About time you got promotion.

@davies_daz: Absolutely brilliant effort Gavin Cowans Red and White Army 🔴⚪️⚽️

@mattmoran1980: Like to see you go up after so many years of near misses

@AndrewDolby1: Great result now go and finish the job

@Offsidelino: Well done fellas. Best side we’ve played this season (Scunny fan). Make sure you do the job next weekend

@FolgerSam: Good luck next week, a Telford fan genuinely wishing Gav all the best of luck.
