A 14 year old has been given a life ban by AFC Telford United after an incident in the game against Coalville Town at the weekend.
The punishment was handed out after the culprit was caught throwing an object in the direction of the opposition’s goalkeeper.
As can be seen in the picture below, the shot stopper hands what is said to be a vape, over to the referee in Coalville’s 1-0 victory at Telford in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

Here’s what fans said as a 14 year old is given a life ban by Telford after the incident in the game against Coalville…
@NottsCountyZone: Life time ban is harsh, surely a short term ban and education is the appropriate course of action. Then lifetime ban for any further incidents.
@CMParrish1: If you want investment in playing squad and club as a whole, paying £6000 fines to FA will eliminate that option. Actions have consequences.
@YouYeltz: Give him a season ticket instead, that’d soon teach him a lesson
@cartss6: @PaulWhiteGK1 – got the poor lad a life time ban.
@SmfcStatto: If this is a first offence then this is very harsh. Appreciate that AFC have had issues in the past and need to be taking a stand, but this is excessive. By all means ban him for a year or two. What happens if he comes back into the ground? Will he get a second life ban?
@IanD2012: Totally over the top.😳 Banned yes, but for Life FFS. Maybe some of stewards should open their eyes rather than turn a blind eye to most things behind the goal 🙄
@blbanks97: 14 year old thinking he’s roadman. The club already has a bad rep so fair play @telfordutd
@shaunculpin: Life time ban is a bit harsh. Alot of children at this age make wrong decisions in life and some put themselves on a pedestal just to be liked . Education and the club taking him to one side and working with him would probably have been the best way . Them integrate him back in .
@tonyrichard99: Correct decision by the club.
@spaulinnit: Lifetime?! What did he throw? A grenade? Bloody hell. He’s only 14. A child!
@bradderz2205: Life ban is Harsh why not do a short term ban and educate the lad
@TheSquareBag: That’s ridiculous to do but a life time ban is even more harsh. It should be like 4 years when the 14 year old is an adult, may be more mature then
@mgwrexham: This is really poor, 14yrs old and kids make big mistakes, I deffo did. Not giving him the opportunity to change, 10, 20, 30 years from now. What a terrible decision. Hopefully the lad will do some growing up and address his issues and then find a decent club to support. Awful!
@alexjhurley: He’s a child. Lifetime ban is way too harsh. Everyone deserves a second chance.
@PufcNathan: Banning a child for life or anybody is ridiculously harsh, but a 14 year old for life, after a stupid moment is terrible.
@Darren_J96: Completely the right decision. There had been no provocation from the keeper at all (not that that would have made it ok), in fact he’d joined in with jokes with the crowd. So to throw a heavy object at the back of his head for no reason is not a ‘mistake’, it was very deliberate
@JasonSpellman15: Jesus a lifetime ban, yes he was wrong, even category C hooligans only get 5 or 10yrs ban, it’s not like we have thousands of fans.
@daleskitt: A 14 year old receiving a life ban? Start them young eh 🤣
@IwasatHarrow: How can he have a lifetime ban for doing something when he’s just a kid. We’ve all done daft things when we’re young.
@Keiranbateson1: Hope he’s crying
@ChurchMatchdays: A club at this level finally takes player safety seriously, and they’re getting criticised for it. Fair play Telford, you’ve done what so many have been (and still are) too terrified to do.
@NickGuywwfc: Life time ban what a joke suppose it’s expected from jokers running the club.
@rjbrook76: Well done to the club, seems to be more and more teenagers causing problems in non league, hopefully this kind of ban makes them think twice
@yaboij0shua: Lifetime ban, he chucked a vape not a stick of dynamite ffs, football clubs can be far too strict in throwing around lifetime bans sometimes.
@adamdarkin_07: Very harsh imo. 14 year olds been a twat, but surely educating him is a better route to go down and maybe a 3/5 year ban? People change massively from the age of 14 to adult years
@sam_jeffs: A 14 year old, yes a 14 year old, has received a life ban. Why can’t people just gone to the football and just watch what you paid for. Baffles me every time
