York City go viral with a rather hilarious new contract announcement video with Mitch Hancox staying at the club after securing promotion.
The National League side revealed that he had signed a new deal, and when it came to revealing the news to fans, it’s was so good that the tweet got over 23,000 views… and rising.
The 53 second clip shows parts of his interview on securing a new contract with the Minstermen, but it cuts away every few seconds to parts of the music video for Blur’ hit song ‘Parklife’. See it for yourself below…

Club statement: We can confirm that Mitch Hancox will return to York City after signing a permanent contract with the club.
Hancox joined initially on loan from divisional rivals Hereford in October and became a cult hero on the road to promotion, scoring 12 goals in 39 appearances from midfield.
The 28-year-old links up again with Manager John Askey, whom he worked with previously at Macclesfield Town in the National League.
He also counts Birmingham City, Crawley Town, MK Dons and Solihull Moors as former clubs.
Speaking upon signing his new contract, he said: “The fans were brilliant with me last year and I couldn’t ask for anything more so hopefully I can keep playing well on the pitch.
“I feel valued here so the chance to get it done and over the line I couldn’t say no really.
“We want to carry on and build that momentum – as long as we do that I see no reason why we can’t be up there.”

This isn’t the only new contract announcement that ha had fans in stitches, with York also revealing Maz Kouhyar had signed on ready for the new season.
This time, they showed footage of the player in action, with singing heard to the tune of Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are’.
Club statement: We are delighted to have reached an agreement to extend the contract of Maz Kouhyar until 2023.
The 24-year-old joined on a free transfer from Hereford in March 2022 and played a pivotal role in the push for promotion, scoring on his debut against Spennymoor Town and then going on to score the winning goal in the Promotion Final against Boston United.
The tricky winger dazzled fans at the LNER Community Stadium and became a fan favourite under John Askey.
Also an Afghanistan international, Kouhyar has recently played his part in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers – starting against Hong Kong and then India in front of a crowd of 44,216 and then coming off the bench against Cambodia in a 2-2 draw last week.
He joins Olly Dyson, Paddy McLaughlin and Maxim Kouogun in renewing his contract and will join new teammates Alex Hurst and Scott Boden who have signed for the new season.
Maz is currently away on holiday, but we aim to catch up with the winger in pre-season to get his thoughts ahead of the new campaign.
