Wrexham’s Paul Mullin celebrates scoring a screamer against Salford City in the EFL Trophy by wearing a Deadpool mask.
Mullin, 29, returned to the starting lineup and made an immediate impact on Tuesday night for Wrexham, having been sidelined at the beginning of the season due to injury.
He got back to his goalscoring ways in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy against the Ammies after 18 minutes, Mullin executed a superb left-footed shot into the top corner to put his team ahead 1-0, subsequently celebrating by donning a donning his ‘Welshpool’ mask from the sidelines – part of his costume in a cameo appearance in the film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ which starred Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Matty Lund came close to equalising for the visitors before half time, only to be denied by Callum Burton’s great save.
Salford then made it 1-1 early in the second half after Conor McAleny was set up by Hakeeb Adelakun.
Mullin came close to putting them in front again, smashing his shot against the crossbar, before being replaced by Ollie Palmer up front for the hosts.
Wrexham won it with seven minutes left of normal time, Will Boyle highest at the back post to head in Seb Revan’s delivery.
